The fact so many use Republican statements regarding our candidates as in indicator of which one they prefer to run against or are most afraid to run against gives the Republican far too much power over our choices.

Just look at the widely divergent opinions here on DU about which of the candidates is "electable" or which would make the best president. In that way I think we accurately reflect the larger group of Democrats out there. Yeah, there's a certain amount of behind the scenes manipulation going on, but I seriously doubt it's that effective.
