So long, "global war on terror"--
Welcome to the new, improved, "global struggle against violent extremism." Which sounds an awful lot like "weapons of mass destruction related program activities," if you ask me. What's particularly troubling about this glib semantic shift is that it could be applied to almost any form of armed political uprising Bushco doesn't like--including freedom fighters or revolutionaries attacking legitimate military targets. It could even apply to Venezuala, say, putting down a CIA-fomented insurrection. I think this language change is weaselly and insidious, and is intended to give Bush even greater carte blanche to attack whomever he wants, whenever he wants, for whatever thin rationale he cares to produce. If they were serious about fighting terrorism, they'd have declared war on al Qaida and its allies on 9/11/01.

1. hello war against the American people
"Violent extremism" is anything he wants to call it, e.g. liberalism, the Democratic Party, etc.

3. Lower numbers............Higher spin
Dubya does not have a diplomatic bone in his body. Karen Hughes is back on track and reinventing her boss......as a PC president. The war president didn't get out of Iraq fast enough, so it's time to make you think he wanted a diplomatic process all along. Bad thing is, some will think it was his goal, instead of invasion and oil control.

Who's Karl Rove?
