12. I think it passed minus some of the holdouts; votes weren't necessary :( |
|
Edited on Wed Jul-27-05 11:06 PM by woldnewton
More updated list:
Bobby Jindal and Charles Boustany, both from Louisiana
Rob Simmons from CT
Charles Taylor from NC
Steve Chabot from OH
Mike Fitzpatrick from PA
Jo Anne Davis from VA, Shelley Moore Capito from W VA.
I also think I heard them say the name of Steven LaTourette from Ohio as well, but I'm not sure.
Marty Meehan has since voted against.
Anyone taping C-SPAN by any chance and has a complete list? If so, could you confirm if it was indeed LaTourette from Ohio? Also, which of the 8 Repubs eventually voted yes, leaving only 7 not voting? Well, I guess I don't care any more. I'm bummed. :(

|
into a thousand pieces and he will have his 218 votes.
They even talked about it on mike on the floor of the house.

|
Given the public's high opposition to CAFTA, tonight's passage won't help matters come election time.

23. I think you're being a little over dramatic on the "all 435," |
|
because those who voted "nay" couldn't do much beyond their own vote.
But Americans CAN vote them out next year. They can vote our all 435 if they want. But if Americans voted for these people in the first place, putting them in positions of power, then there is a certain level of blame to be placed on the soon-to-be-screwed electorate.

24. I must have been unclear, |
|
Tom Delay said this morning that no one was leaving the floor until he got his votes, even if he had to break arms into thousands of pieces to do so.
All 434 did nothing about it all day. Then when Delay proceeds to do exactly what he said he was going to do, they all let him do it.

I mean that sincerely. I know little-to-nothing about Congressional procedure, but other than their vote, I see no way of successfully combating DeLay's statement.

they could have all stopped voting. Game over.
They are the ones who all stood around waiting for Delay to declare vote over.

29. What Happened to the Ethics Investigation of Delay? |
|
It doesn't surprise me that Delay is still twisting arms in the House. What does surprise me is that the coverage of the ethics investigation seems to have fizzled. Lots of corrupt Republicans, but more blond missing girls.
