It is official: Congress does not represent the interest of the People
Energy Bill & CAFTA passage

with a few exceptions, our reps are bought by corporate interests and intimidated by thugs of * & Co.

Let's make sure 2006 places real reps into congress.

3. I kinda already knew that.
Doing what is right has become a perfect reverse predictor of what Dubya and the House especially will do. They have consistently done the wrong thing on every issue.

Steve Latourette (R-OH) was one of the two deciding votes on CAFTA. He represents Youngstown. Hopefully the numerous union guys there will finally wake up and run that asshole out on a rail next year.

4. The only thing that will save this country fro bad policies is
good reps. And the only way to get them is to completely overhaul the election system: http://timeforachange.bluelemur.com/electionreform.htm

5. Glad to hear you've finally caught on.
These two are the latest in a whole series of "screw the people" pieces of legislation.

Look at Check 21, Medicare, Patriot Acts I and II, and rulings by the SC (e.g., eminent domain). There are others as well. No legislation on the transportation equity act - which might actually create jobs in the US.

When the public donates money, we have an expectation that our congressmen and senators will do their job. When corporations donate, they expect favors in return. And the well-greased wheel continues to get more attention.

13. I've been trying to do some actual work over the past few days -
I think my mind only allows so much information to be readily available at any given time. Usually those are at the top of the list.

We all forgot the WH's efforts to "fix" Social Security.

6. My (DINO) Rep
Has voted for CAFTA, the Bankruptcy bill, Estate Tax repeal, the War and every one of the Bush Tax Cuts. I will never vote for the SOB again. I hope he has primary opposition, so I can vote against him.

7. Better late than never I suppose. You had to wake up someday and
find this out.

I gotta admit, this administration has been an eye opener for a lot of people.

Not me though. I'm too old to have any illusions (delusions?) about the bastards in Washington D.C.

9. this election brought to you by Diebold
Real reps in 2006? You need to get about 100 million more people in the street than there are now to pull that one off.

10. It's mainly the Rich & the Elite who represent the majority of people
Edited on Thu Jul-28-05 01:09 PM by TheGoldenRule
in this country who are neither Rich nor Elite.

And we wonder why they are screwing us?!

Most of em simply have NO CLUE as to how we all live and what we go through to make it on a day to day basis. Worse, they don't care. :puke:

11. Well, if you go to another thread
you are advised to ignore all that for the sake of unity and with the suggestion that the voters aren't on our side.
