Do you think the officials you elected are representing your interests in Congress?

"Every time I drive through Kannapolis and I see those empty plants I know there is no way I could vote for CAFTA."
July 14, 2005
Rep. Robin Hayes, R-North Carolina
*Hayes voted for CAFTA"

5. *MY* Congressman is representing me well...
Tom Allen has done a great job representing Democrats in Maine. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins have their moments, and enjoy massive popularity (both are at 71%) but the most important vote they cast this year was to retain Bill Frist as majority leader. We need a Democrat in those seats, no matter how far right or "centrist," if only to cast that vote for Harry Reid instead.

6. Done, and it felt good to choose NO.
Seems the vast majority of voters on the poll agree with me. 95% NO.

7. puh-leeze! . . . the only ones Congress represents are . . .
1. Themselves, and their narrow economic interests.

2. Their corporate sponsors, and their broad economic interests.

3. All other corporations, and the all-encompassing economic interests of the corporate fascist state.

representing me? . . . not since the last time the Democrats controlled, and even then it was tenuous . . .

8. 'Contract with America". put then in power, Does anyone fucking REMEMBER?
These fuckers said REMEMBER "Term Limits", "Balancing of the budget", "ban the casting of proxy votes in committee;" etc..but ALL that is nil now that the god fearing republicans are in power...

Discourage illegitimacy and teen pregnancy by prohibiting welfare to minor mothers and denying increased AFDC for additional children while on welfare, cut spending for welfare programs, and enact a tough two-years-and-out provision with work requirements to promote individual responsibility.

A $500 per child tax credit, begin repeal of the marriage tax penalty, and creation of American Dream Savings Accounts to provide middle class tax relief.

Etc...

9. Wow, 6,825 votes and 97% say No. Nobody thinks they are
being represented by their officials. What happens when a representative government no longer represents the majority of the people?

10. "Contract ON America"
The main goal of the RW is to please their masters, the Corps and destroy the Middle Class. Most Dems are complicit with that goal.

12. I didn't vote on this. My Congressman and Senators are very good indeed.
My Senators are Corzine and Lautengerg, I rate Corzine as very good and will be volunteering for his race for Governor. Lautenberg is excellent on nearly every issue and I hope he stays forever.

My Congressman is Rush Holt, oddly enough a DLC member, but has been spot on progressive on just about every vote AND a leader in Congress on the verified voting issue.

I didn't vote because I didn't want to skew the poll.

13. Well, problem is...
Congress as a whole does NOT represent my interests, but my congressman does, for the most part.

My Senators, however...no.

15. Boxer represents me. Feinstein...bleh....and
I'm not represented in the House because I live in the fiefdom of Elton Gallegly, a turd in a suit, whose lips are affixed to the chimp's ass. A lowlife so despicable that there was a thread on DU one time describing how Gallegly has his staffers throw Dems out of his office.

It's gratifying to know, though, that people of all political persuasions see through these assclowns for the corporate shills they've (with some exceptions) largely become.
