3. I agree!
He held his own and was able to remain congenial in the face of the 'are you carrying' barrage.

He sounded just like the straight-shooter he's been portrayed as.

Good show!

6. I'm impressed as well! And I've apologized for
Tweety before, but what was the point of pounding Hackett on gun ownership? He couldnt think of anything else to chat about? :eyes: Mr. Hackett was honest, cute and refreshing; makes me wish I could vote for him!

No kidding! Where was Tweety going w/the gun permit crap?
Over and over and over again.

Hackett did great, however. Lots of integrity, good concise clear answers. And it does not hurt that he has a killer smile - very friendly, open image.

... and Hackett handled Tweety with just the right mix of straight no-nonsense and intelligent good humor. Good job.

8. Tweety kept pushing him... "What's a chickenhawk??"
Paul was more than happy to respond..

Said it was someone who's never been in the action themselves, whose children aren't serving... who sit on their duffs screaming things like "bring it on, you're either with us or your against us, etc..."

19. I'm sure he knows, but he has to ask the question because there's probably
some in the viewing audience who don't know the term.

17. Tweety is a chicken-hawk. But in his defense, he served in the Peace Corps.
That certainly counts for national service in my book.

18. So seriously, WTF happened to him? How does your conscience
up and disappear like that?

I see him carrying water for this corrupt admin every day.

When and why did he migrate to the Dark Side?

20. He spent most of his life on the dark side.
If you read his book on Kennedy and Nixon, RN is the laudable one and JFK the bad guy. As an Irish Catholic whose first election was 1960,I know with 100% certitude that when an Irish Catholic contemporary states that he was for Nixon, he is Republican through and through. Why Carter and O'Neill hired this guy and left him with this phony liberal persona is beyond me.

21. Yeah, the Peace Corp & Carter stuff threw me off track.
Thanks for the heads up about the book. I grew up in an Irish Catholic family too, so I hear ya on the Nixon / Kennedy reference. Never minding Nixon was a corrupt criminal Republican and all that jazz.

I haven't watched him in a long time and when I switched him on to see Paul Hackett's interview, I thought "God, he's even worse than I remember (Tweety)!"

22. Its funny, when I first started watching him, I was impressed.
That's why I bought the book, and frankly my jaw dropped as I read it. How anyone could at this date idolize( and that's not an overstatement)Nixon is beyond me.
I still watch him frequently, but for less and less viewing time. I do that for 2 reasons. The first is that Mathews and , if you can believe it, Robert Novak, John McLaughlin and Pat Buchanan were among the very few in the punditocracy who had reservations about the Iraq adventure. The other is that Tweety along with Fineman are the canaries in the mineshaft. If they ever turn on Little George, it will be a clear sign that the Republican Party has decided to distance itself from this cabal. As much as I look forward to that day, which I think is inevitable, the evil will not go away when these guys are out of office. We need to work harder than ever to preserve our American ideals; democracy has been put at risk by the Republican Party as a whole, it is not just W.

24. Actually, Tweety came out in a newspaper column AGAINST
the Iraq invasion -- back in 2003. But ... it never seemed to come through on Hardball. I found it strange that there was such a disconnect between his column and his TV persona.

I think he can be candid in his writings ... but on TV he can't ruffle Karl Rove's feathers or he'd be out on his can.

26. I think that Tweedy tries to play both sides.....and have it both ways
But in the end he only suceeds in playing his viewers....and lastly, himself.

But, there was no need to be defensive about his carry permit, imo.

12. Hackett was most excellent.....
and further, he reminds me of another "veteran".....the General.

Great smile, stand by what they say, and aren't afraid to call Bush on the carpet.

No wonder Clark's called out for his troops to support Hackett. A man after his own heart.

Let's get ready to rummmmmmmmble! and kick a little chickenshithawk ASS!

Bush, Rove and Cheney are IN that space shuttle.....the one that President Clark is watching blast off.

We just can't see them in the picture, cause by 2009, they will be such "little" inconsequential men.
