Jeebus...on MSNBC, the Clark embed just called Clark "desperate."
I'm waiting for the Tweety interview of the Deans, and they're killing time by talking with the Edwards and Clark embeds. The Clark lady was getting garbled, but I made out her saying, "He's running frantically, which reflects how desperate he's getting." WTF?!?

Later.

1. I hate that embed

She's useless. She's never said anything positive that I can remember. Rove must've given her a huge bonus.

10. embeds are still reporters
She is just doing her job. She is not supposed to be "useful", just truthful.

14. Quite honestly
I think the words "reporter" and "truthful" have become totally incompatible.

I doubt that the spin any of the embeds are spewing has much to do with what's really going on so much as what talking points they've told to mime today.

2. Where there is no news, it must be made...
I refer you to "Citizen Kane" and "Network" for all too true depictions of how our modern news media came to be.

5. I don't think the embeds are chosen by the candidates
I think they are chosen by the news media. Why would the Dean campaign choose Candy Crowley?

So the embeds will have no more problem criticizing or sniping a candidate than the anchors do.

12. good question
<<Why would the Dean campaign choose Candy Crowley?>>

You're right, the networks assign the reporters to campaigns. This explains why CNN put Crowley on the Dean campaign when he was the clear frontrunner for the nomination, so she could sneer, grimace, snarl and ridicule instead of doing the difficult work of being a journalist.

15. embed
I think it's Marissa Buchanan (no relation to Pat that I know of, but it wouldn't surprise me).

Most of the embeds (I HATE that war term) seem okay - they're fairly young and most of them aren't hateful toward the campaigns they cover. I've actually found the campaign trail reporting from MSRNC to be far more balanced than CNN so far.

9. That was inane!!
What happened to non-objective journalism? I'm seeing far too many adjectives lately. I'm a Dean person.. but to call Clark desperate is way out of bounds. Is the only requirement to be a journalist now is having good hair?

11. Not just MSNBC
Bill Schneider (is that his name?) on CNN went through all the candidates just now and Clark was the only one he said something nasty about. It was something like, "Every time he tries to make up ground, he stumbles on his own rhetoric." (Not a direct quote, but it was something like that.) :puke:

19. They see the blood in the water with Clark, and they don't want him to
have momentum going into the south.
