Polls: New Hampshire may be uncallable
See http://www.campaigndesk.org "A New Hampshire Poll and $1.25 Will Buy You a Cup of Coffee" , an article discussing New Hampshire primary polling in recent years.

Some evidence suggests that results from New Hampshire may be uncallable before the primary election, despite "saturation polling."

1. A sliver lining?
Hopefully, the area will become so saturated with polls that they all become meaningless, and people will start to vote their hearts, minds, and guts again.

2. Polling has gotten totally out of hand
It began in the 1950s, but I can remember when you'd see maybe one or two polls before an election. Not this every fifteen minutes crap.

5. every voter has been
it's hard to beleive that every voter hasn't been called at least once by a polling outfit and a few times from every single campaign office.

3. Saw an email on some broadcast
that some NH voters deliberately give pollsters wrong information to show who's boss.

4. interesting
<<Rosenbaum cites half a dozen reasons New Hampshire is uncallable despite saturation polling, and they're all convincing. He also cites research by Dartmouth College which revealed that, once in the voting booth, only 50 percent to 70 percent of voters voted the way they had said they would just one or two days earlier. Rosenbaum then notes dryly that "all this uncertainty has not discouraged the pollsters from plying their trade.">>

6. What makes this race so exciting is that we have some fabulous
people running. Any one of them I support in a minute even though my heart is w/ Dean. (one exception - JL) - I am sure you understand.

7. I went back
and looked up the polls for the 2000 election. McCain was ahead by a few percentage points buy won by a much larger margin.

I suspect that has a lot to do with the Independents. I heard on one show that Independents don't get polled as often. I don't know how true that is but I did think it was interesting. And there are still a pretty high percentage of undecideds.

They were so wrong about Iowa, I find a certain lack of credibility with the whole polling process. And I wouldn't be surprised if voters are giving false info, too.

8. I would take my phone off the hook
if subjected to the barrage NH residents are getting.
