What do you say to somebody who loves * and claims to be a dem? |
|
Edited on Fri Jul-29-05 08:44 PM by Gyre
I'd really like to know. I've got an officemate who voted for chimpy and Ahnold, went to Ahnold's victory bash and now she's running for public office claiming to be a dem. What do ya think?

34. Or she "cares about winning." |
|
And only about winning. Which is less about having several screws loose and more about being an asshole. And a potentially terrible elected official.
I met several "Democrats" like that during the election cycle. One was even running for office.
What to say? I don't know. I'd leave that one in the road.

My husband's best friend's wife is a raving 'puke lawyer, but we live in a dem district, so she sucks dem butt because she wants to run for a judicial position. She has begun to feel me out as a supporter, because I hang with the local dem community. I have been polishing my "I don't mix friendship with politics" speech. Jeez! She tried to get me to play along by saying she could fix any tickets I got! Typical 'puke!!!!!!!!!

How else could DiFi, who would be a Pubbie anywhere else, win elections to become a supervisor and then mayor in ultraliberal, ultra-Democratic San Francisco?

The two have nothing in common. How anyone with a democratic bone in their body could profess to love * totally baffles me.
I would have a problem with a dem voting for * once, even more with twice, but to still be supporting him at this date...I suggest she change party registration.

and seriously who could love these people, who are basically ruthless bullies who try to destroy anyone who stands in their way. What if Wilson's wife had died by being outed, would it have mattered to them, as long as they were able to one up someone.

Although it might be tough telling her that.
Either she's in the grips of two wildly divergent personalities and value systems, or she's a craven, sociopathic political parasite.

womens' reproductive rights, medical marijuana, the Patriot Act, etc.
How does she feel now about * and Ahhnuld after seeing them in action?
If her answers line up on the Repug side of the issues,
expose her at her public appearances by having a third party ask these same questions. (Don't put yourself in a adversarial situation with a co-worker. It can only lead to problems.)
She'll bust herself, be unable to garner supporters or money and be out of the race in short order.

Diabetes runs in my family - though all but one has Type 2. I have a cousin with Type 1.
I had a big baby and am only 5 '1" - he was 10 pounds 2 ounces, 23 inches at birth - so they tested me CONSTANTLY for diabetes and gestational diabetes.
All in my family with Type 2 are overweight. I'm not. It's a hard and constant struggle, but I'm beating it. I figure if I make 40 (which is in five years), then I'm gonna be on the cool side of the weight department.
So, my question is this: isn't overeating and failure to take care of one's self a problem with diabetes and how, exactly, do we regulate that? I don't think we can.

"What do you say to somebody who loves * and claims to be a dem?"
"If you love him so much, why don't you marry him? That will cure you."
But seriously, DINO - Democrat In Name Only.... follow the money... traitors like her and Coleman are the worst sort of politicians.... they don't even stay bought. (That was another attempt at humor.)
The only reason someone like that would run as a DEM is to infiltrate our party, make us look bad and give votes to the other side. Scum.
And in my the spirit of my NEW DEM Platform, come on, let's all say it.... "She's a LIAR." Pure and simple. You don't support the rethugs and then run for office as a DEM...
OK - Highly rational moment of pure speculation..... just to make sure this isn't me rushing to judgment just to get the yucks...
I still think she's probably a LIAR - - UNLESS... did she REALLY Stop drinking the koolaid? We've had posts from AARP folks and people whose parents were 30+ year Republicans, but with the light being shined on the underbelly of the sleaziness that has invaded their party, some are choosing to leave it rather than be associated with it.
Does this office mate sound like a Republican Lite or like a pissed off DEM? Did someone she loves get killed or go to serve in Iraq? Does she know that Ahnald has major conflict of interest going on by accepting money and fixing legislation for supplement company that pays him millions as a "consultant"?
Is there any evidence that she's really started to consider voting in her own interest? Like a desire to:
... have public drinking water without significant levels of arsenic, mercury and poisonous jet fuel in it? Or to:
... take her children swimming in lakes, rivers or oceans that aren't dumping grounds for raw sewage and pollutants?
Does she think Ken Blackwell has given their party a black eye and damaged their reputation beyond all means?

|
She'll be hard pressed to find supporters if she starts with the neo-con speak on a Democrat ticket (especially now that both Arnie and Bush's polling numbers are in the toilet). A real Dem would eat her for breakfast in any sort of debate.
Just tell her you can't support her because of her history of supporting those who are out of touch with your values.
