Clark Supporters,
Edited on Mon Jan-26-04 02:22 PM by xultar
You know, I hate to say it, but Clark isn't going to get the nomination.
Remember back in the day we couldn't get the media to say a peep about Clark. Well now not to look soooo suspicious they are reporting on him but everything is negative. They aren't reporting on his overflow crowds, they are calling him (desperate), they aren't talking about the fact that, Rangel, Dinkins, past SC Governor are campaigning for him, they are reporting that he is losing steam.

This is why I hate the media! HATE :nuke: HATE :nuke: HATE :Nuke:
The media.

and it speaks highly of your integrity as well. Thanks. We can't let media spin control our most important choices. We don't have to always agree, but we should be free to make informed decisions. Your candidate stands for the people also, and I have always appreciated that about him.

53. thank you for saying that....
you're right that we should be free to make informed decisions. I long for the day when our candidates' comments won't be taken out of context or parsed like Dean's comment was about Iraqis not being better off now. That comment was uttered during a women's forum, and the media DIDN'T report the rest of what he said at that forum!

5. I Hear Ya
Although I still think there's a lot in play in the February 3 and February 7 primaries; South Carolina is only one of them. We've got a good bit of scratch for a war chest for those primaries, and a close finish of Kerry-Dean in New Hampshire or a surprising Dean-Kerry finish in New Hampshire will benefit our candidate.

It's tough, though. Clark's really taken a hiding in the media. I have a much better appreciation now for what the Dean supporters complained about for so long; it really can get you down!

10. The media doesn't vote...
...people do.

Please, don't pull a "it's all the media's fault" tantrum a day before a vote is even cast. I didn't like reading it last week from another candidate's supporters, either. That's bunk.

From one Clark supporter to another, let me buy you a round

Our man is gonna do fine in NH and move on to the February 3rd battleground states.

As we've seen already, the media is fickle. They may be burying Clark now (just like they did with Kerry, and then Dean), but they'll be ready to pump him back up again once he creates his own momentum (just like they did with Kerry, and then Dean).

Cheers :hi:

The headline from Democracy now, the Barbie Embed saying hes desperate, Faux Debate with the dumb ass questions, Russert with his dumb ass questions, jeez!

It's a wonder that anyone with any common sense would wanna run for office @ all.

If they aren't ignoring the guy they are shooting him out of the sky. That is pretty damn sad.

I am also pissed cuz they built Dean up to tear him down. Kerry & Edwards will be next. If Clark lasts then they'll do the same to him. Build him up and then take shots at the podium until he falls.

EU! I wanna kicka some ass today!

37. imagine what they'll say
if he wins 3 states on Feb 3...

they'll look as stupid as they did predicting Dean in a runaway the day before Iowa.

The problem with all of these news programs is that they start eating their own dogfood - and they become an echochamber. There's a reality out there - a lot of voters in NH will choose to stay home and watch American Idol (and no doubt call the station to complain when it gets interrupted with a Fox exit poll). There's a gritty determination in a lot of the NH Clark supporters i see in NH.

We're going to do fine. The media will change its tune on Feb 3.

Clark has been written off before, remember? A solid 3rd place finish in NH is a very real possibility. Even a close fourth keeps him in play, or conceivably lower. I started a thread to discuss the possibilities, called New Hampshire Results May Be Inconclusive:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=132&topic_id=196651

The polling in NH is hopelessly erratic, always has been, and Independent voters play a significant roll there. For example, if Clark comes in third, they have to keep covering him. Hang in there.

I was so depressed yesterday...not because I lost faith in Clark, But because I was so discussed with the media. Now I wish they would just keep quiet and let the NH voters tell us what they think without all their prejudice & negative comments. If Clark gets 3rd place I'll be very happy. I hope he will show those pundits they're wrong again. I also hope Howard Dean whoops Kerry's ass...but not by tooo much.

27. When the media chose Clark as the guy who could...
...beat Dean, I said the only thing we know is that whatever the trends at the polls are now, they will fundamentally change after Iowa. Now that Clark is "finished", like Kerry and Edwards before him, I'll say again: the only thing we know for sure is that the race fundamentally changes after New Hampshire, and all the current "trends" will be shown to be nonsense.

It's anyone's game.

Snap out of it! :) Did you watch C-SPAN this morning????? First they had 2 young Clarkies on who spoke oh, so eloquently about Wes. THEN, we saw Wes Jr. ...The apple doesn't fall far from the tree! He was a wonderful spokesperson for his dad. THEN, they had an interview with Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgeon (SP?). It was ALL GOOD and POSITIVE coverage! Wes is going to surprise us tomorrow or should I say the NH voters are going to surprise the Faux News, MSNBC, ABC, NBC news pundits.

I saw a report on CNN that he is climbing up the polls a bit...Bob Franken said so! :7 Screw the media! They, every last one of them should be ashamed of themselves for what they have been doing! I wrote them ALL and told them so, too. Maybe you should send off a few emails? It will make you feel better if you tell the pundits what you think. :7 Just because the media is negligent in NOT reporting the facts as they are does not mean they don't exist...right? WE know what kind of crowds Wes is pulling and that's all we need to know.

Cheer up! Wes Will Win!!!!!

47. I'm looking at polls of likely Democratic voters up on the tv
and then the talking-heads point out that (a) the voters have a history of changing their minds in the polling booth itself, (b) the polls do not reflect the 40+% of NH voters who are "undeclared" and who can vote in this primary and (c) the main issue for the vast majority of voters is "who can beat Bush?"

My conclusion? The polls and the pollsters and the pundits are full of crap. This is the media's last chance to stop Clark, as they see it, and they are pulling out all the stops. All we have to do, no matter what happens in this primary, is to keep on going and we'll be able to beat them.

This is the first time Clark has had to run in an election. It is unreasonable to expect him to win. If he doesn't win, then the only possible other story for the media is that he is finished. That's the way these things play out and that's the story the media really wants to tell.

I say we keep on with the campaign even if we have to tie and bind Clark and wheel him around the states like Hannibal Lecter in a hand truck (though I suspect he'll come willingly).

If we let the media defeat us we might just as well have stayed home.

I've ordered my Clark shirt. Don't make that be for nothing.

On to the convention!

pessism so I'm not going to criticize your pessism. It's been a tough week for Clark since Iowa. The media is horrible and his poll numbers are going down. I'm actually feeling very optimistic. I don't think anyone can predict NH. The numbers are all over the place and when you call NH voters they seem volatile. I think Clark will do fine and then on the Feb. 3 states where he already has an organization. He still not the frontrunner, but he has a good chance. :-)

58. I think Clark is going to do much better in NH than people think.
Despite what the pollsters and talking heads say, Clark has momentum. He's been all over NH, and his events have had overflow crowds. My impression is that when people see and hear him, they like him--a lot. And that's important in helping folks decide how to vote.

NH folks like to think of themselves as independent, individualists, and some of them are likely to be pissed off by the media telling everyone what they think. Many there do wait til the last minute to make their decision.

And it's not a given that Kerry will win NH just because he's from Mass. Kerry may be from the state next door, but he ain't no New Hampshire homeboy. Many NH folks have a disdain for Massachusetts. Who do you think calls us Massholes all the time? LOL There are even a number of people in Mass who do not like Kerry; I'd imagine that feeling is even stronger in NH.
