Santorum just got his ass handed to him by Stephanopoulos
Edited on Sun Jul-31-05 08:42 AM by Godlesscommieprevert
It was a thing of beauty to behold. George interviewed Sen Asshat on This Week, and just waded into him. He questioned Santorum's statements such as "radical femimists saying women who stay home to look after kids are not respected", George asked him for specifics - which feminists were saying that, and he dried up, couldn't think of anybody's name but Gloria Steinem - who was big in the 70s and never even said that anyway!
The Goerge took him on about the priest scandal and how it was "liberal Boston" where it happened. George went through all the press reports from the last 10 years and threw them back at him, stating it happened in San Diego, Louisiana and Chicago before the Boston scandal hit.
Oh, man, if you can see a replay, it's the best TV I've seen in a long while
:woohoo:

1. Santorum has absolutely no credibility
Usually, I'm not in favor of granting people like him airtime, but if it's for the purpose of tearing them down, by all means, get it on camera.

2. It was beautiful - this is what interviewing should be
I've got it on tape and it's a keeper.

the real journalists did a better job than a "fake-news anchor" (comdian).

What is wrong with you people expecting Jon Stewart to play the role of the (supposedly) serious press????

6. Stewart
I was highly disappointed with JS interview with Santorum. I don't expect JS to play a serious journalist but he could have busted RS balls a little bit more than he did.

12. Stewart himself mentioned it on his next show...
...acknowledging that some people thought the interview "sucked". I think he agrees.....but on the other hand, it is true, he shouldn't have to do the job of the press every single time he has a controversial guest. I think he just took the night off....didn't feel like going after him....whatever.....he's entitled.

wit . True, he's not a journalist but he's skewered people before He knows how, and with Santorum, it's childsplay to reveal him for what he is.

4. Not to mention that his logic is totally screwed
If it was "liberal" views on sex that he thinks leads to pedophilia then how is it that the people with the most "conservative" sexual views (priests aren't supposed to have sex at all) were the ones who were charged with pedophilia? Completely ass-backwards!

And then there's the little fact that Massachusetts has the lowest divorce rate in the country as well as the lowest teen pregnancy rate!

I swear the right-wing nut-bags must have all been dropped on their heads when they were babies.

8. I remember when journalists used to ask politicians tough questions
Stephanopolous had to move into journalism to remind them of how it's done.

11. I just watched it, Stephanapoulos could have even got him worse too
He handed him his ass pretty roundly, but he was decent enough to let Rick try to explain himself somewhat. Man, that was nice.

21. sen.MOD's ass
I think as to dealing with Sen Canine-lover that allowing him to expose his own nether regions is the best strategy.Much as I'd like to see him go ballistic to the point that the men with butterfly nets and the wraparound white coats show up to take him away, that generally according him a modicum of human decency and the rope and room to allow him to hang himself is the best way to go. Sounds like what Stephanopoulous did only stepping in to offer advice on knot tying and other technical matters. You have to watch Stewart pretty closely as he "interviews" people like santorum. His body language, gestures, and facial expressions clearly communicate his opinion of their drivel without him having to say much of anything.I enjoyed it and thought it clearly expressed his agreement with the proposition that sen.MOD is indeed one of the finest minds of the 13th century.

17. An important point: Santorum is just a generic Republican
He is a Primo example of who they are and how they "think."

18. I've always liked Steph
He asks the hard-hitting questions, and then follows them up with more. Russert asks the hard-hitting questions, but then no follow-ups. Steph has done his homework and hits them with facts. Russert just says somthing like, "Really? You think so?" so he's lazy.
