HufPost - The Judy File - Amazing

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/theblog/archive/arianna-huffington/the-judy-file_4933.html

"Ever since I started blogging about Judy Miller's role in Plamegate (and in the selling of the war in Iraq), I've been showered with tips and tidbits about the jailed reporter, whom one e-mailer from Sag Harbor ("her summer hometown") archly referred to as "the amazing Ms. Miller, intrepid girl reporter.""

Tip that Miller in the "process of negotiating a book deal about her Plamegate/prison experiences.."

"But what worries my Times sources the most is that it smells like the straw that could break the Gray Lady's back. A lot hinges on how much of what Judy knows Bill Keller and Arthur Sulzberger also know. Keller has been very cagey on the subject. When asked by George Stephanopoulos on Nightline if he knew who Miller's source was, he refused to say yes or no.

And no fewer than four sources have either e-mailed, called, or, in one case, run up to me on the street to tell me that what I termed Miller's "especially close relationship" with Chief Warrant Officer Richard Gonzales, the leader of the WMD-hunting unit Miller was embedded with during the war, might have been, well, very close indeed. According to one insider, Miller had emailed a picture of Gonzales to a colleague at the Times with the message "Lucky Lady"."

2. I liked learning that her dad ran a nightclub in Fort Lee, NJ.
He probably knew a lot of interesting people...

"During the forties and fifties, her father, Bill Miller, ran the Riviera nightclub in Fort Lee, New Jersey. Famed for its retractable roof, the Riviera staged shows by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Tito Puente. When the state highway commission ordered the Riviera condemned in 1953, Miller made his way to Vegas, proving his impresario bona fides by reviving the careers of Elvis Presley and Marlene Dietrich."

3. I expect better from Huffington than tabloidism
If Miller slept with Gonzales, that would be a story, but this "Lucky Lady" email is pretty thin evidence. This is the kind of crap I loathe about the news media. It's wrong when Fox and CNN do it, and it's wrong here, too. If she's going to be a gossip columnist, she's not going to rate very high in my book.

Peace.

www.missionnotaccomplished.us - How ever long it takes, the day must come when tens of millions of caring individuals peacefully but persistently defy the dictator, deny the corporatists their cash flow, and halt the evil being done in Iraq and in all the other places the Bu$h neoconster regime is destroying civilization and the environment in the name of "America."

6. Well, that's one I hadn't heard--that Keller and Sulzberger might be
complicit in the Plame outing. It was bad enough, their promotion and protection of the worst liar in the history of journalism, since the Church Fathers of the 5th Century A.D. put the words, "thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church" into the mouth of gentle, non-empire-building, non-political Jesus.

--or since the Jewish Elders wrote that God created Man first.

I guess she has some rivals.

Here's another tidbit on Judith Miller:

May 22, 2003: David Kelly (Brit WMD expert) starts whistleblowing to the BBC on the Brits' "sexed up" intel on Iraq.
July 7, 2003: Blair is informed (after Kelly is identified and interrogated) that Kelly "could say some uncomfortable things" ("COULD say"--not HAD said.)
July 14, 2003: First Plame outing.
July 17, 2003: Kelly emails Judith Miller, stating his concern about the "many dark actors playing games."
July 18,2003: Kelly found dead, under extremely suspicious circumstances; his office and computers searched.
July 21, 2003; Miller writes a news article for NYT on Kelly's death, and fails to disclose her close connections to Kelly.
July 22, 2003: Second Plame outing--of the entire CIA front company, all WMD monitoring projects and contacts disabled (with some contacts probably getting killed).

What do I think that this interesting coincidence of dates adds up to? There was a plot to PLANT nukes or other WMDs in Iraq, that Judith Miller would be there with the US troops to "discover" and get the "scoop" on; that's why Kelly was killed (he knew about it, and maybe foiled it); and that's why they did the SECOND Plame outing, of the whole CIA weapons monitoring operation, at much greater risk of treason charges (wasn't needed to "punish" Wilson), because Plame and her network of covert WMD contacts might find out, had found out, or had helped foil it (info found in Kelly's computers).

A bit too neat--more like a novel than like real life--but still, a pretty good working hypothesis. I think that this coincidence of dates in the Plame/Kelly stories is...well, a bit too coincidency. And, lo and behold, there's Judith Miller, laundering a CIA WMD expert's identity to other reporters (to protect the Bushite(s) who told her), on the one hand, and in intimate communication with another--a WMD expert and whistleblower--who turns up dead.

Something here. I don't know if I've nailed it. But something....
