Ambassador Bolton? - How can he possibly be good for Bush?
he gets about 15 months at a shot for the remaining duration of Bushco.
Feb.2007 there's another vote, judging by his past record nothing short of a miracle could keep him in office then Bush will simply have to nominate some other loser to take his place.

I'm looking forward into seeing as UN. Ambassodor he's going to help Bush's numbers rise??

1. Bush was in a bad politic spot....
They can't back down on the Bolton nomination, because these guys never admit wrong and they aren't about to give up the papers that the Dems requested either. It was looking like he may not be confirmed even if they did eventually go to a vote. That would have been a devastating defeat. But, they look really bad making the recess appointment, the Dems don't get the info they asked for that etc. Plus the Rove stuff, Coingate all of these other things are beginning to fester. Bush had no good option here. And, frankly the American people didn't either. We're worse for having Bolton as UN ambassador, and that's a shame.

2. I think I recall that Bolton needs to be in the UN because...
it is part of the plan in the leadup to war on Iran. Bolton was part of drafting those plans and they need someone in on the plan at the UN. Speculation of course, but the topic is about speculating why would Bolton be good for Bush.

3. Bush says "his mission is to help the UN to reform itself!"
For Bush to announce something as controversial as that before Bolton even goes to the UN, shows how DUMB he really is!

5. Typical Bushco move....
if ya can't follow the rules, change them.

Once Bolton screws up the U.N. and remakes in DUH-bya's image, we can happily march off to war against Iran, with U.N approval this time. :eyes:

Obviously, the crew in charge has no clue what they're up against. They think the resistence in Iran will throw flowers at their feet, just like the Iraqis did.

How can grown men truly be this stoopid?!

8. Bush doesn't give crap about the U.N., it's just politics, pure and simple
Satisfying the base. He's convinced the U.N. is against him anyway, so send in a mean stupid bastard to fuck with 'em. (Well he's right on one count, the world does indeed hate him)
