Kerry to visit St. Louis on Wednesday |
|
Edited on Mon Jan-26-04 03:27 PM by Feanorcurufinwe
John Kerry will visit St. Louis on Wednesday, the day after the New Hampshire primary, which could make him the first candidate to visit the state since Missouri's presidential primary suddenly became competitive, The Associated Press has learned.
The Kerry campaign said the Massachusetts senator will appear at a St. Louis location to be announced later Monday.
Kerry hopes to secure a joint endorsement from two prominent Missouri Democrats he served with in Washington -- former Sens. Jean Carnahan and Tom Eagleton.
During the weekend, Kerry hired Roy Temple, a veteran Missouri Democratic operative who served as Mrs. Carnahan's Washington chief of staff. http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/news/stories.nsf/News/D749027B0252C1DA86256E270068A675?OpenDocument&Headline=Kerry+to+visit+St.+Louis+on+WednesdayI have the feeling the first chance Kerry is going to get to rest up will be in mid-November.

campaign is that he is going to wait until a clear winner emerges. Gep apparently has his eye on Secretary of Labor and doesn't want to alienate any opportunities right now.
Having said that, Gep has surprised me before and if there is political hay to make Gep will be in the center of it.
I will tell you that from calling Missouri voters this weekend, there is clearly a building support for Kerry here.
