Dean supporters: Where does Dean go after NH
My feeling is that Dean will come in a strong second or might even pull an upset and win in NH, so next week there are seven key races, Dean can't concentrate on them all--where does your gut tell you he should spend the bulk of his time--The key is now for him to get a win. Kerry has said that he will concentrate on Missouri. How about Dean?

Here are the states with races a week from tomorrow:
Delaware
North Dakota
South Carolina
Oklahoma
Missouri
New Mexico
Arizona

This is what I think: Edwards will probably score well in NH with a solid third--this will give him momentum in South Carolina and Oklahoma. I think Clark will be hurt somewhat if he comes in fourth in NH, but he will go forward. Currently the General has been leading in Arizona and New Mexico, if Dean comes out of NH with a solid showing he should concentrate on Arizona and New Mexico, imo. I also think he should also work on Delaware and maybe North Dakota--two small states which might not get lots of attention next week.

Final thoughts: I think Dean should publically say he is going to try to do well in all of these states on Feb 3rd but my feeling is that his best shots will come in caucuses the following weekend after Feb 3rd in Washington state, Michigan and Maine.

1. South Carolina first, followed by New Mexico
He needs to put in a good showing with the minority voters. He is in third in Arizona, Missouri - while important, is going to be a real rat's nest. South Carolina will show he understands he needs African-American votes, and New Mexico because he has received a lot of favorable attention there in the past and it could be a 'safe zone' for him.

4. Other Things Being Equal,
Dean should visit the swing states:
Delaware, Missouri, New Mexico,
and maybe Arizona depending on the polls
The Feb 3 list is weighted toward red states, which are not Dean's strength. He must win at least a couple of states, so that the headlines show a mixed and inconclusive result, for example:
Kerry wins AZ
Dean wins DE and MO
Edwards wins SC and NM
Clark wins ND and OK
Note: This is an example, not a prediction
That means the race has no front-runner and no candidate has the resulting bump in the polls.

Dean can then use his superior nationwide organization and finances to his advantage as the race continues. The longer it goes on as a four-way race, the better for Dean.

8. Missouri
We have the most delegates up for grabs, and there is a BIG block of undecided voters after Gephardt dropped out.
