Dear Mr. Novak:

I am writing in response to your column yesterday entitled "Ex-CIA Official's Remark Is Wrong". In this column, you write about your "journalistic integrity", yet you continue to show very little of it in your work. Why, at the end of your article, do you continue to smear Ambassador Joe Wilson? Do you not realize that this is what got you in this mess in the first place? Your quote about Joe Wilson being discarded from the Kerry campaign comes from an article in Talon News(link: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1179407/posts) written by none other than Jeff Gannon himself. Gannon's claim has been refuted by the web designers for the Kerry campaign who eliminated many pages when overhauling their website. They state that no direct order came down from Kerry to "discard" Wilson (http://www.salon.com/politics/war_room/index.html).

Finally, the Senate Intelligence report you quote has not discredited Wilson at all. Three Republican Senators - Roberts, Hatch, and Bond-filed a separate statement http://a257.g.akamaitech.net/7/257/2422/13jul20041400/www.gpoaccess.gov/serialset/creports/pdf/s108-301/roberts.pdf) because they could not get any of the other 14 Senators to agree with them.

But Mr. Novak, you know all of this already. You should have listened to your lawyers and remained quiet. This issue is not about Mr. Wilson, Patrick Fitzgerald, or (gasp!) even yourself and your "integrity". It is a story about how an unchecked political machine- which you are an intrinsic part of- can attempt to trample over innocent, hardworking people who are actually trying to defend this country.

I find it very curious that Novak has been so quiet for so long and is now dribbling out just enough "controversy" to keep the story alive. Is he getting more money for each column or guest appearances? Is he keeping his name in the news because he profits financially from it?

I have no doubt that he is a big enough whore to do so....

10. IMO, this "Wilson... discharged from the Kerry Campaign" smear

should be being countered by Kerry himself. He needs to get out there and sound off. He can release a statement on seemingly and endless array of things, but this Wilson thing needs to be put down once and for all if the DSM/Plame/Niger Documents subjects are ever going to get any traction with the public. Only Kerry can stomp out this fire once and for all.

I would love to see him call a news conference and have Wilson by his side, and take the Novak article apart sentence by sentence. BUt, I know it won't happen. He needs to at least make a statement, or publish one... and a forceful one!

To Robert Novak:

When you let yourself get defensive, it gives the appearance that your critics have leveled charges that need defending. Let’s see….

The CIA lost an entire business cover. That means that all the operatives who “worked” there can no longer do their jobs investigating weapons of mass destruction around the world. In a worst case scenario, some of them may have even been put into jeopardy in the days or weeks following the publication of your article. It means that all their contacts in other countries are now subject to arrest, interrogation and possible execution. It means that the CIA may have a very difficult time establishing such contacts in the future. This means that our country may have lost the ability to gather information about WMDs in an effective way for years to come.

I guess that would not sound so bad to a Neo-com, who wants to invade countries based upon a long term plan of strategic economic importance rather than actual military threat. Indeed, knowing who has what WMDs might just get in the way of that kind of foreign policy. It isn’t as if a small country with one of two nukes is any real military threat to the US, not in the long run, which is what the Neo-cons think about.

Do you sleep well at night, knowing that you are a tool, in both of the words secondary meanings?
