War Hero Hackett Under Attack By BIG CHURCH in Today's Election

Cincinnati, OH (LifeNews.com) -- Voters in Cincinnati will head to the polls Tuesday to decide a special election contest to fill the 6th Congressional seat vacated by Republican Rob Portman, now U.S. Trade Representative. The race between Republican state Rep. Jean Schmidt and Democrat Paul Hackett focused in part on abortion.
While some elected officials are pro-life, few come directly from grassroots organizations. Schmidt was named the president of Right to Life of Greater Cincinnati in March.

Jack Hart, the group's vice president, expects pro-life voters to head to the polls to strongly support Schmidt and cited her primary victory as evidence they will put her over the top.

"This is another example of the tenacity of the pro-life, pro-family voters, who work to know their candidates and support those who demonstrate strong principles," he said.

The National Right to Life Committee endorsed Schmidt in June.

"The endorsement reflects our appreciation for the strong stand Jean has taken on behalf of those members of our human family who are least able to protect themselves," NRLC political director Carol Tobias said.

Tell BIG CHURCH to get out of your body! Send them a message! Vote Hackett.

seperation of Church and State. Churches have no business endorsing candidates. None, whatsoever. They should lose their tax-exempt status.

Take away their tax exmpt! Show churches what happens when you get involved like this. And this is coming from someone who attends church. I'm getting tired of the church telling me what to do.

20. Uh, it's not a church.
The word "church" doesn't even appear in the referenced article.

4. Im giving them the new name Big Church! Remember Harry and Louise?
Edited on Tue Aug-02-05 01:45 PM by Joanne98
The Harry and Louise commerials that sank Hillary's Health care plan.
"I want BIG GOVERMENT out of my medicine cabinet."

Or that old bitch Flo... "I don't want BIG GOVERMENT telling me want prescriptions I can take".
It worked so well for the fascists I thought I would return the favor.

This is a name that will stick to them and not offend the normal Christians. I'm calling them BIG CHURCH from now on.

I thought of it while ranting about Rick Santorum and his stupid book on another thread.

rant..........
I saw him on c-span. What pissed me off was his insistance that liberals were attacking "RW families"! The truth is liberals are just defending people who want the conservative christians to LEAVE THEM ALONE! It's the Fundies who are attacking everybody who isn't living lives they approve of. It's the conservatives who are attacking other people's children NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND!
If you haven't noticed by now, this is something they do alot lately! They are constantly accusing the liberals of doing something that they are doing. They are using the federal goverment to FORCE their christian values on the rest of the country and especially on OTHER PEOPLE'S CHILDREN! So I here-by declare, that for now on we refer to them as BIG CHURCH! Are you sick of the goverment putting BIG CHURCH in your lives? Are you sick of having BIG CHURCH in your medicine cabinet, in your vagina, in your bedroom, in your doctors office, in your child's science class and everything in your life that used to be your own personal private business? What's next? The ministery of VICE! The war on sin? The department of Homeland Faith and Family values!
The truth is nobody has ever attacked them. They've just tried to protect themselves from religious EXTREMISTS!
The only difference between the Christian right and the Taliban is that the Christians don't control whole countries anymore. Not for a few centuries anyway. But they trying to change that, aren't they?
Santorum's claim that Hillary is forcing her ideas on other people's children is complete bull. It's the other way around. Santorum and his Christo/fascist fundies are doing all the forcing and attacking. I'm sick of their false claim of how they're being attacked. They've never been attacked EVER! But that's all changing now. From now on Americans will fight back and do what ever they can to keep BIG CHURCH out of their lives and ANY FROM THEIR CHILDREN. So let the attack from the left begin! The real attack, not the phoney one they've been talking about for 30 years that never existed.
It's time to say NO to BIG CHURCH and YES to FREEDOM!

15. Also, Santorum simply misrepresents HRC and others...
There's a lot of laziness and just plain demagoguery with people like Santorum concerning Hillary Rodham Clinton, Democrats in general, and liberals in particular. Santorum has basically blamed the sex abuse scandal in the Catholic Church on liberals :eyes: -- an absurd assertion for which he has no proof. Then there's the attempt to demonize H.R. Clinton's It Takes a Village approach to policy. Really, if they'd bothered to read the book, they wouldn't have anything to demonize. Santorum and his ilk just like to use the fantasy of everyone being under the control of some oppressive liberal state. :eyes: Really, he's the one who wants to peek behind the bedroom door, control the family structure, and so forth.

But, "in and of itself" is a good disclaimer , I guess.

10. too funny, they need a copy editor big time!
Meanwhile, the Cincinnati Enquirer on Sunday endorsed Schmidt over Hackett.

In a Sunday editorial, the paper said Hackett “is more in tune with the views of the district's residents, better understands their needs and is in a better position to help meet them” in a Republican-run Congress.

14. I still dont see why Big Church is tax exempt?
Theyve clearly taken the Repub side and push it constantly.

I think we need to make a HUGE PUSH to take away this tax exemption. If you dont agree that churchs are taking sides kick on the 700 club any night.

16. Misleading Title
National Right to Life is not a church, and endorsing a particular candidate is not out of bounds. Their organization also includes a Political Action Committee, which is certainly allowed to endorse and raise money for individual candidates.

"we're stealing this son-of-a-bitch, and offering plausibility beforehand". Are they using Diebold or other thieving firms to tabulate?

some people refer to him as a war hero because he volunteered to go when he didn't have to and fought in the Fallujah campaign. *shrug* I know someone else who refers to him that way because heroes oppose war. ;)
