35. If it's this close, are we going to have to go through recount drama?
Regardless, I want all votes counted (and counted once ;), but I am still traumatized from 2000 (Floridian here) and just want CLOSURE at the end of an election day.

Either way, go Paul!!

12. If we get within 30 points, it's a win...
I heard that this district is usually won by 50 points, and that it was considered a good showing if we got within 30. Looks like this is a win, regardless.

If Hackett actually wins this thing, we're talking a tectonic shift has gone on in this country.

55. I was thinking WCTO was making it look close on purpose.

But now Hamilton is showing results from other counties, and Hackett is indeed leading.

The problem is that the whole election gets decided in Hamilton County proper, when you get down to it, and we don't know what areas are reporting. I'm going to go fishing and see if any new URLs have appeared with precinct breakdowns, but I doubt it.

30. Somber Freeper predicts squeaker win for Schmidt - analysis
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1455302/posts?q=1&&page=301

Predicts a 1,500 vote Schmidt win

--
Hamilton is 40 percent of the cd vote

Clermont her home is 28 percent of the vote that vote will bring her home by a nose

Warren is almost all in which is 13 percent of the vote

She was crushed in brown by 15 percent.

Scioto and pike counties are going to be hackett blowouts but they only account for 4 percent each.

Then you have adams county which accounts for 4 percent which should be like brown.

Schmidt will do well in 81 percent of the district winning hamilton by over 5 percent and warren county by 10 percent and winning clermont big by 15-20 percent.

But in the 19 percent of the rest of the district she could lose by 25 points.

Schmidt wins by about 1,500 votes prediction.

87. just think, the GOP CAN'T drop $500k in 200+ districts
maybe there is a few we can blow off, but if we at a minimum pay the filing fees AND match a candidates first 10k or 5k, something, we can put alot of pressure on the GOP.
We spend 10 or 20K to get heard in a district while They'll be forced to spend millions in defense.

75. For once, crappy turnout may end up hurting the repukes
Looks like we're doing a MUCH better job of getting out the base. If Dean is smart (and we know he is), he'll be giving some of these organizers a promotion soon -- if they don't end up on Rep. Hackett's staff, that is!

95. here's what the area is like
Part of Hamilton co. & part of Warren co. are urban sprawl from Cincinnati and you might as well add a chunk of Clermont co. too, lots of republican voters.
Brown, Adams and Pike are more rural, more likely to vote for hackett but fewer voters.
On the bright side, I heard today that a lot of urban republicans decided to stay away from the polls today simply because they couldn't bring themselves to vote for ither canidate.

BTW the school levies are not necessarily in district 2, my school district had a levy vote today and I am not in district 2.

104. Jesus...I was only hoping we would get within ten points
No matter what, this is a victory....a BIG victory.

Now if we actually get the seat, than that says a few things to me.

1. Fighters and liberals can win even in red disctricts as long as they act like themselves. The Repub media machine is no longer believed.

2. Ohioans are sick and tired of Republican corruption....'bout time.

3. They can't rig any and all elections...small elections can be watched much easier. OR Congressional seats aren't important enough to rig.

4. We have a media machine that is beginning to work (blogs, AAR).

5. War heroes the likes of Wes Clark may have tremendous appeal throughout the South and the Republicans have lost the flag they wrap themselves in.
