NPR top of the hour: Bush v Edwards. |
|
They played a quote from Edwards: "give me a chance to take on George Bush and I'll give you the white house."
Cut to Bush in Arkansas today: "we have a culutre of law suit in this country, uh, law suits."

6. Bush is not going to debate him |
|
That's the rumor that I'm hearing.
If Edwards is the nominee, Bush will REFUSE to debate him.
And you know what, he will surely lose an election in 2004 if he refuses to debate Edwards. Edwards can keep talking about the issues on television and saying that "I want to debate Bush, but he refuses to debate me" and that's going to make Bush look seriously bad and WEAK!
Bush would have to give in and then Edwards would make him look even worse, and WEAK!

7. That would be a fascinating situation. |
|
Would bush ever give in and debate Edwards?? I dunno; he could take an unprecedented gamble and refuse, citing some BS reason. His handlers would calculate the risk here, which would be substantial, compared to near CERTAIN fatal ramifications of going ahead and debating Edwards. Lose-lose.
