is it true that laura ingraham has cancer?
i read this on DU some months back. i'm wondering if it's true and if so, what is her position on stemcell research?

i saw jon stewart's piece on specter, who had switched over and become a supporter of stemcell research since he was diagnosed with cancer, and it was funny how stewart said the difference between an extreme right wing conservative and a moderate one is that a moderate conservative is just an extreme right wing conservative that gets sick. regarding the stemcell issue, he's right about that. how many loud-mouthed, hypocritical repukes have to get cancer or diabetes before they all finally support scientific research?

1. Sad...
I guarantee she will join Arlen Specter and Nancy Reagan if she hasn't already.

2. "Do as I say not as I do".
The republican motto.

I think you're right about her cancer BTW. Not sure about her position. She strikes me as from the neocon school of Republicanism as opposed to the fundie school. They're all hypocrites nonetheless.

3. I don't want anyone to get cancer but it does reveal their
main concern is for themselves and their lack of compassion for everyone else. Really, really sad.

9. Yes, Laura has breast cancer but I do not know her position on stem cell
research. Nor how she is doing. I wish her well.

14. Appalling
How can one claim to be a compassionate liberal with everyone's interest at heart and even think a thought like that. Let alone publicly state it. After losing both parents in exactly the manner you wished for, I have to say that I wouldn't wish that on a conservative, a liberal, a moderate, or for that matter, a human being.

I am new to DU, but if DU is about this kind of vengeful dialog, I will leave.

20. just so you know.......
i didn't post this to invite vengeful dialog. i posted it to point out how little compassion repukes have for anyone else and how they will quickly change their minds about things once they are the victim.

arlen specter all of a sudden became the biggest republican supporter of stem cell research after he was diagnosed with cancer. same for nancy reagan after pruneface ronnie got alzheimer's. before these sicknesses, these people didn't giva a rat's ass about anyone's health or well being. look at pill-popper rush limbaugh....he supports the gestapo-like methods that bushco wants to use to get information about citizens except when it concerns information about how he broke the law by doctor shopping and buying illegal street drugs, etc.

22. I respectfully disagree with your sweeping notion that all
Republicans lack compassion until something happens to them. Those types of generalizations really aren't productive, IMHO. They are about as true as saying liberals are all welfare recipients who live in their parents' basements and smoke pot all day long.

Yes, some Republicans lack compassion. So do some Democrats. Your post is a little flamey, IMHO, but I appreciate being able to express my opinion. :)

28. well, i reconsidered......
....and you're absolutely correct JJ. it was a sweeping generalization. it's not all repubs, only 99% of them.

i still contend that ANYONE who supports bushco and their pro-war for halliburton profits, pro-corporate, anti-poor, anti-elderly, anti-sick, anti-science, anti-environment agenda is human garbage.

21. Welcome to DU
Don't leave. I am under the impression that some of the most hateful things posted on DU is by people who then go back to other sites and say, "look how hateful they are on DU." I'm not saying there are no hateful people who are democrats, but they are in the minority.

:hi:

I don't agree with Laura Ingram's political views, but I do wish her a fast and full recovery. Spirited political debate is one thing. Wishing someone harm for their views is quite another.

She will get the best of care, and be able to pay her medical bills.

And it will not force her into bankruptcy.

Unlike some Americans.

She put it on her web page.

Hopefully she'll come through fine. I despise her politics but I would rather defeat her at the debate podium than see her go down from cancer.

18. The Freeper school board member who was recently outed
had this to say about the death of Andy:

We shouldn't likewise stoop to such lows.
I wish Laura Ingraham best of luck as she battles cancer. And maybe she'll have a change in mind re. national health care.

23. There was a pretty extensive thread
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=102&topic_id=1666691&mesg_id=1666691

What was most egregious, and the reason it infuriated a lot of local people ( in addition to his general wingnuttery, homophobia, and violent tendencies) is that he posted that he was going to keep his real views under wraps until after the election.

Like you, I don't see Laura changing her mind. While part of it is her finances, I think she simply has too much invested in her own self-righteousness. I mean, she really is insanely rigid.

27. i don't wish cancer upon anyone either....
none of us are invulnerable to it, and if we live long enough we'd all get it.

that said, my heart doesn't bleed for loud mouth right wing propogandists like laura, tony, or rush or any of the rest of them. while i never would wish anything like cancer on them i have to admit that when i hear about one going down bigtime i can't help but think "yeah, another fascist goes down!" i'm not proud of that, but i have to admit it to you.

29. I don't wish cancer upon anyone.
I found out recently that my childhood friend's sister-in-law has been fighting cancer for over a year now. It originated in her lung, and she has never smoked once in her life. They removed her entire lung, but not before it managed to spread throughout her entire body...

All I know now is that they are praying for a miracle. In addition to her husband -- my friend's brother -- she has two young sons.

No, I don't wish cancer upon anyone. Not even a self-righteous Neocon's virus carrier like Laura Ingraham. We on the left should not stoop to the level of a Jerry Fallwell (see his comments about gays and 9/11) and say that this is something that she brought upon herself. If cancer really worked like that, then vile bastards like Dick Cheney and George H.W. Bush would have departed from this world many, many years ago, while my friend's sister-in-law might still be looking forward to watching her two sons grow up.

One might hope that perhaps this experience will teach Ingraham a thing or two about compassion, humility and empathy. Those things are what our world desperately needs more than anything else right now.
