I really am looking for something that is encouraging.

Hackett "only" losing by a little just doesn't make it.

Lower poll numbers for the POtuS are no indicator that things will really change.

For years now, I have seen cycle after cycle of anger turning to enthusiasm turning to political activism turning to shit when the moment(s) of truth arrive.

So, I ask the question - is there a real reason to have any hope that America can be turned around and get back on the evolution/progressive path?

1. It will take a major crackup
Basically they've won. They've got all the marbles and they are working on making sure that they can rig any election that is close. The only way I see this turning around is a major disfunctional episode like the great depression. The crackup has to be so obvious and so complete that the ruling elites are once again completely discredited.

3. Oh yes and...
we have to keep fighting them on all fronts, keep telling the truth, keep running for office, keep making them cheat to win, keep inventing new ways to get the message out, and most importantly, make the Democratic Party a strong voice in opposition to their bullshit, so that when the crackup comes, and it will come, we are the voice of reason, of sanity.

The Patriot Act makes anyone violating a law a terrorist. That makes you an unlawful combatant against the fascist rulers and they can do with you what they want and have the rest of the slave wagers pay for it.

People are drugged by television and with hundreds of channels out there, it is too much to overcome. Wages will be lower and energy will be higher. The idea that the next generation will have "more" is over. It is all downhill until the bottom.

BTW, with all those channels, have you ever heard the word fascist mentioned when describing the US. We are a fascist country and the Dems won't even raise the possibility that it is true, much less the Repukes.

Edit to add- Even if a miracle happened today, the $8 trillion national debt will take one in four or five tax dollars just in interest.

That statement is a really juicy nugget and its true. I think its been over for awhile, but its another good piece of ammo to put out there. Thanks for saying it.

5. Yes, there is
Because if we all give up then nothing will EVER change. The only hope we have is to keep trying.

And because everything always changes eventually. How long will it take? I dunno.

I'm rooting for Sept. 24th-26th. I'll see y'all on the streets of DC!
