Christmas Cards and Rafael Palmeiro But Not Karl Rove
Washington, DC - Every day, Americans are learning more about the Bush Administration's widespread effort to discredit Ambassador Joe Wilson. But Republicans in Congress just aren't paying attention. Today, the House Government Reform Committee announced they would investigate whether Baltimore Orioles team member Rafael Palmeiro perjured himself during his March testimony on steroids in baseball. This committee also previously investigated former President Bill Clinton's Christmas card database. But they won't investigate Karl Rove's potentially illegal betrayal of a covert CIA operative. And Senate Republicans have decided that they'll actually investigate the way the CIA assigns covert status to agents, rather than investigating those who blow that cover for partisan political gain.
"The Republican leadership in Washington continues to protect its own by refusing to hold hearings on this brazen abuse of power involving the national security of the United States," said DNC Communications Director Karen Finney. "If Republicans valued protecting CIA operatives fighting on the front lines in the war on terror and our national security, they'd stop providing partisan cover for Karl Rove and possibly other Bush Administration officials. This President has a growing credibility problem. Republicans should stop hiding behind lawyers and legalese and take the necessary steps to restore America's faith in our government."

4. Can someone tell me what a "release" is supposed to do? |
|
I understand talking points said on cameras & in front of microphones do, and I understand what op-eds & interviews in news papers do.
But what is a "release" and who does the DNC think reads them besides folks who already know this stuff?
This is a great talking point- but what good is it if "swing voters" and red-staters never see it?
My point is that I think the DNC needs to "SAY" things instead of "releasing" (whatever that means) things.
