Anyone have any pictures of "nice" things happening in Iraq?
I posted the pix of the soldier standing in front of the crying little boy on another forum I frequent.

I was accused of making our soldiers "look bad." They said if that was not my intention, I should post pictures of the good things happening in Iraq along with the bad. Anyone got any? Anyone at all?

Someone else posted a pic of a soldier giving a child candy and one of a soldier filling book bags. Typical propaganda.

My patience is wearing thin.

7. That's a really nice picture!!
It's a damn shame that there are far more pictures of kids blown to bits than kids being given candy.

8. What? Just candy to kids? No flowers from appreciative women?
No tanks covered in carnations? No stories of happy Iraqi kids in freshly painted schoolrooms?

No parents enjoying 24Hr electricity? The sewage gone from the streets?
Families walking the streets at night? The faithful going to church/mosque? Happy, smiling faces?

I'm disappointed. One might think things were not going well. Give me happy pictures, dammit!

2. Where are the flower pictures?
You know, the ones where US troops are being showered with flowers from grateful, happy, free Iraqis?

Where are they?

6. Remeber the guy who said "Bush. O.K." (???)
He's probably dead from having his house bombed by now.

3. "... a soldier giving a child candy ..."
Isn't that how those kids got blown all to hell a while back?

Don't get me started on conspiracies, but who says the vehicle was blown up by "insurgents".

Also, early in the war, before "comabat operations ceased", a guy was giving out candy to kids in Iraq. His stipulation: they had to repeat the words to some dumb rap tune about "pimp juice". Some things, we don't need to export, IMO.

I'm sure a lot of Muslim parents agree; they don't want their kids to apsire to being pimps.

5. I like this photo
http://anysoldier.com/ the one on the home page ... although it's not Iraq.

I'm not really comfortable saying that photos of soldiers giving Iraqi kids candy are a good thing, because the Washington Post has quoted soldiers saying they use this as a tactic to keep kids around them to deter attacks - which is a war crime. There have been a number of children killed while gathering around the US soldiers - they are an obvious target.

It's an issue that Army leadership needs to crack down on, but I'm sure they won't.

12. Picture after picture of troops handing out candy and soccer balls...
Aren't there any "nice" pictures of troops with adult Iraqis? How about "nice" pictures of a hospital or school being built? Any "nice" picture of a trained Iraqi soldier available anywhere?

17. where are the pictures ..
of adults getting along and doing things together as friends, pictures of Iraqis and Americans working together building roads and schools and such, having a meal together the way friends do? Children love sweets and some will do about anything for it, if it's a rare treat.
