1. When the polls close
is customary, but I wouldn't be surprised to hear exit polls.

6. I've been to Dixville Notch
It's beautiful there. There is this HUGE granite rock that the road goes right through. It's cool. There aren't many people up there, though. It's pretty remote, but absolutely beautiful.

9. They all vote at midnight
and release the results immediately after the last vote is cast, which is legal.

There are NO registered Democrats there now, though.

11. There's actually a specific state law that regulates these two places.

There's actually a specific state law that regulates these two places:

CHAPTER 659

ELECTION PROCEDURE

Hours of Polling

659:3-a Early Closing of Polls in Dixville and Hart's Location. The polls may
not be closed pursuant to RSA 659:3 in Dixville or Hart's Location until every
person domiciled in the town who is not on the checklist has been contacted by
the town clerk to see if they wish to register to vote prior to the closing of the
polls.

There are NO registered Democrats there now, though.

It gets worse: last I knew, at Hart's Location, there were
no registered humans of *ANY* party!

12. 2000 results
The voters of Dixville Notch traditionally cast ballots in the New Hampshire primary just after midnight. The town's voters have correctly chosen the eventual Republican nominee every year since 1968.

23 Republicans and six Democrats voted in Dixville Notch on Tuesday morning: Bush, the governor of Texas and son of former President George Bush, claimed 12 GOP ballots to edge out Arizona Sen. John McCain.

On the Democratic side, Bradley beat Vice President Al Gore by a 2-1 margin -- four votes to two.
