Make no mistake, "We will arrest Cindy on Thursday" is all about US!
Edited on Mon Aug-08-05 06:49 PM by TwoSparkles
I'm probably not telling anyone--anything new. However, it's worth calling BushCo on the carpet for their "long-range" very-public threat to arrest Cindy on Thursday.

This threat is a targeted intimidation tactic--designed to dissuade other protesters from joining Cindy in Crawford. It's a shot across the bow to anyone who is thinking about going to Crawford.

BushCo is struggling to keep this effort small. They don't want it to flourish--because they understand full well--that VERY SOON, thousand of protesters could be standing in the brush. They're attempting to eviscerate the energy that is building behind this movement.

They think they can scare us into staying home. They think they can hurl threats of arrest--and that we'll cower in our homes and not make the trip.

Screw that.

I'm in Iowa, and I'm making arrangements to go to Crawford. This, "We'll arrest Cindy" malarkey will not deter me. This fear-mongering propaganda will not work.

We are not afraid of you. We are ashamed of you and disgraced by your actions. We will not be intimidated. This is America. We will stand peacefully--and be polite. However, we're not going away and we won't curl up in a fetal position as threats are tossed in the air--in an effort to make us go away.

George needs to stop issuing threats. Instead, he needs to pull on his running shoes, jog a few miles down the road...AND SAY HELLO TO "WE THE PEOPLE!"

1. On the other hand, Cindy is free to wait in Cleveland for Bush to see her.
Free country, free country, they hate us for our freedoms!

3. I wish I could get there to be arrested WITH her.
One day, White Rose will be big enough to have a staff.

Until then I cannot go much of anywhere...

One could look at it as a Community Health Service assignment and then some....with a Forensic component..My patients are inmates....I do not work at a prison.

4. TwoSparkles, my hat's off to you.
You have this exactly right.

They KNOW that the more people who go there, the bigger problem it is for them.

They can't arrest a large number without a big fracas.

So, they are trying to scare people away.

CALL THEIR BLUFF.

God, I wish I could go!!!

Why does this kind of thing always come up when I can't be there??

AARRGGGHHH

16. Not necessarily! In fact, I believe only a small number should go
because if a large number goes than they can say it's a true security risk

PERSONLLY, I believe our best bet is to have a roving sort of crowd. Nothing too big and but consistant!

33. I disagree
It's damn hard (not impossible) to arrest 1000+ people. Easy to arrest 3 dozen.

5. and that would be amazing, if, as you suggest, he showed up in his
jogging clothes and just took her aside, went for a stroll and acted like a human being - talked with her.

But if he did, the authority of her motherhood and the strength of her character - would tick him off and he'd blow it. He does not play well with authority figures.

6. "All about Us" in more ways than you imagine. I think it is...
the beginning of a sweeping federal crackdown on ALL Leftist dissent: quite possibly the onset of a witch-hunt worse than any in U.S. history, including even the McCarthy years -- not just defamation, but suppression of dissent by internment of dissidents, perhaps even outside the judicial system, i.e., without charges or trial.

more the better. There must be other people in Iowa that would like to go along and you'd be safer with someone with you, unless you're taking your entire family to spend your vacation with George. ha

11. Bush will have to cave
The problem isn't IF ... it's HOW.

He has the next two days to figure out how to grant her an audience and still keep up the image of the Mighty Leader.

With each new mishandled crisis, sarcastic remark, and petty backhand, he looks more and more like a puny, scrawny, dirty banty rooster.

12. I've sent letters to a bunch of LW air personalities - we need to get
bodies down there with camcorders.

Thursday, surround Cindy with cameras - if they do arrest her, scatter, with the tapes. They can't catch every tape.

One tape is all that would need to get through - bypass the "mainstream media" and hit the internet - post the video to your favorite LW sites . . . it would hit the fan.

This could be like "The 1968 Dem convention" or "Kent State" - which affected the downfall of the sitting administrations . . .

36. Not in the sense of the killing
but of the bad PR that would result from it. The deaths are starting the turn - if an arrest of a Gold Star Mother gets made public, it might have the same impact as that of the picture of the young girl standing over the body of her classmate - the tide can turn.

Remember how much outrage was caused by the fake news story about Hillary Clinton "snubbing" the Gold Star Mothers? The one that even the Gold Star Mothers had to put to rest on their own web page?

An arrest of a Gold Star Mother, especially if the video gets to the mainstream consciousness (unlikely), could expose the fascism that the country is heading toward.

13. Another blow to Free Speech if they arrest her. The Right of the People
to gather peacefully and petition the Gov't or redress of grievences shall nopt be abridged. If they want to call that 'ranch' the "Western White House", it will draw people. Too bad the fear that surrounds bush is so apparent....he is nothing more than a coward and a cheap bully.

14. The threat has exactly the opposite effect for me.
I didn't consider going down until I heard that they were trying to intimidate. When they start arresting gold star moms and veterans for peaceful protest, you know they are backed into a corner. And the whole thing goes from another small protest to having the smell of history in the making.

22. Exactly
BushInc wants people to sit back and let him and his boomer crew ruin America. Hell, they may just sell America to WTO if asked. We know Dems would go along.

This is about intimadating those that don't agree with the neocon's foreign policy to protect Isreal and get oil. Sooner or later, liberals and Greens will be targeted for their "sins" against "Deity's chosen". We have to take a stand to protect America's future from corrupt baby boomers.

30. What I wanna know is...........
why aren't some democratic politicians down there supporting Cindy? Be nice if Dennis Kucinich, Howard Dean, John Kerry, Gen. Clark, Hillary Clinton, et al put in an appearance in support of Cindy. Hell, I'd even settle for Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton stopping by with words of support. What are they afraid of? Could be the right wing outcry that would result. What a great opportunity for the dems to finally take a stand that the majority of the country supports. I fear another "shoot themselves in the foot" in the making.

If you are going to shoot video, have somebody else hold the light.
Light on the camera would be a dead giveaway and you'll get your
