OMG!! MSNBC is doing something on the known pre 9/11 guys.
After the commercial, they are going to talk about how a few of the hijackers were known to some before 9/11. I'm surprised it's getting media coverage.

2. yup.blame Clinton
thats why this meat head is out talking his ass off..is he up for re-election or what?.I know he wrote a book.....but .what he doesn't say is that bush was warned many times.

Before 9/11: White House Received 53 Warnings

After September 11, both pResident Bush and his top national security adviser, KindaSleezy Rice denied having any prior knowledge that Al Qaeda was planning an attack involving airplanes. National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice said on 5/16/02, "I don't think anybody could have predicted that they would try to use an airplane as a missile, a hijacked airplane as a missile." Similarly, President Bush denied having any idea about the threat, saying on 5/17/02, "Had I know that the enemy was going to use airplanes to kill on that fateful morning, I would have done everything in my power to protect the American people." These denials belie the record.

1999 –EXPLICIT WARNING THAT AL QAEDA HAD PLANS TO FLY AIRPLANES INTO BUILDINGS: A 1999 report prepared by the Library of Congress for the National Intelligence Council "warned that Osama bin Laden's terrorists could hijack an airliner and fly it into government buildings like the Pentagon." The report specifically said, "Suicide bomber(s) belonging to al-Qaida's Martyrdom Battalion could crash-land an aircraft packed with high explosives…into the Pentagon, the headquarters of the CIA, or the White House." In response to the ominous warnings, the New York Times reports "under Janet Reno, the Justice Department's counterterrorism budget increased 13.6% in the fiscal year 1999, 7.1% in 2000 and 22.7% in 2001." During the Clinton Administration "the federal government had on several earlier occasions taken elaborate, secret measures to protect special events from just such an attack."

EARLY 2001 – MAJOR SURGE IN AL QAEDA ACTIVITY: "In late spring 2001, a sudden surge in activity began among known Al Qaeda operatives…a reporter from Middle East Broadcasting visited bin Laden at a camp in Afghanistan and noted that his supporters were preparing for attacks against American 'interests.'"

EARLY 2001 – WHITE HOUSE DEPARTS FROM EFFORTS TO TRACK TERRORIST MONEY: The new Bush Treasury Department "disapproved of the Clinton Administration's approach to money laundering issues, which had been an important part of the drive to cut off the money flow to bin Laden." Specifically, the Bush Administration opposed Clinton Administration-backed efforts by the G-7 and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development that targeted countries with "loose banking regulations" being abused by terrorist financiers. Meanwhile, the Bush Administration provided "no funding for the new National Terrorist Asset Tracking Center."

APRIL 30, 2001 - BUSH ADMINISTRATION SAYS BIN LADEN FOCUS WAS "MISTAKE": The Bush Administration released the government's annual report on terrorism, but unlike previous Administrations, it decided to specifically omit an "extensive mention of alleged terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden. A senior State Department official told CNN the U.S. government made a mistake in focusing so much energy on bin Laden." Similarly, AP reported in 2002 that the Bush Administration's "national security leadership met formally nearly 100 times in the months prior to the Sept. 11 attacks yet terrorism was the topic during only two of those sessions."

JULY 2001 –ANOTHER WARNING THAT AL QAEDA PLANNED TO USE PLANES AS MISSILES: The LA Times reported that U.S. and Italian officials were warned in July 2001 that "Islamic terrorists might attempt to kill President Bush and other leaders by crashing an airliner into the Genoa summit of industrialized nations."

JULY 2001 – ASHCROFT STOPS FLYING COMMERCIAL BECAUSE OF "THREAT ASSESSMENT": Attorney General John Ashcroft stopped flying commercial airlines and instead began "traveling exclusively by leased jet aircraft instead of commercial airlines" because of "what the Justice Department called a 'threat assessment.'" That "threat assessment" has never been made public.

AUGUST 2001 - PRESIDENT PERSONALLY WARNED OF AL QAEDA AIRPLANE PLOT: ABC News reported, Bush Administration "officials acknowledged that U.S. intelligence officials informed President Bush weeks before the Sept. 11 attacks that bin Laden's terrorist network might try to hijack American planes." Dateline NBC reported that on August 6, 2001, the President personally "received a one-and-a-half page briefing advising him that Osama bin Laden was capable of a major strike against the US, and that the plot could include the hijacking of an American airplane."

SEPTEMBER 2001 - PENTAGON OFFICIALS CHANGE FLIGHTS ON 9/11 BECAUSE OF SECURITY: Newsweek reported that on 9/10/01 "a group of top Pentagon officials suddenly canceled travel plans for the next morning, apparently because of security concerns." Newsweek also reported "that as many as 10 to 12 warnings" were issued before 9/11, and "more than two of the warnings specifically mentioned the possibility of hijackings."

SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 – RICE SPEECH ON SECURITY GOALS HAS NO MENTION OF TERRORISM: National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice was scheduled to give a speech outlining "the threats and problems of today and the day after, not the world of yesterday." But instead of focusing on the new challenges, Rice instead was set to address Cold War-type challenges by "promoting missile defense as the cornerstone of a new national security strategy." The address "contained no mention of al Qaeda, Osama bin Laden or Islamic extremist groups."

10. Time to bring back Richard Clarke to clear the shit up!
According to Clarke, the Clinton administration left clear information and warning about al-qaeda for the incoming Bush administration which they stoutly ignored. Remember, they wanted no parts of anything "Clinton." Also, no matter what, 9/11 happened nine months into the Bush administration.

3. the one thing they will NEVER talk about
the two year commission Clinton set up with Hart and Rudman on the the risk of terrorism, and what should be done to prevent it. The report said that immediate action was necessary.

This report was given to the bush administration as he took office, and cheney promptly threw it away and said they would do their own study, which they didn't, until 9/11.

16. They must be very desperate
Logically (I know, logic has nothing to do with them) the best they can get out of this pr blitz is that 'Clinton messed up, too'

Little Bushie was in office for 9 months with access to the same intel that Clinton had about this group. What did little Bushie do to make sure that we were safe?

What IS their excuse?

  1. Well Clinton didn't do anything about this so why should I?
  2. Clinton built the wall between the intelligence gathering and the FBI and we didn't notice it until 9/12/01
  3. We'd only been in office 9 months and we didn't know what we were doing

How can the get around the fact that THEY were in charge on 9/11 AND they had been repeatedly warned that Bin Laden was determined to strike in the US?

4. maybe something is coming out with bush on 9/11 so this is the
jump ahead of the news to get every focused to blame clinton. i love how people say why dont dem leaders talk to media, set them straight. media has their own agenda for the story, they dont want and wont allow bringing all the facts in. many of us could go thru the months prior to 9/11 and show time and again bush ignoring the evidence and refusing the steps needed to stop 9/11. but those arent mentioned. only what will go to clinton.

clinton went to bush and told him these are the concern. as did albright. bush and rice siad tey were wrong and ignored them. the had info on cole terrorist act and let it go, because wasnt inportant. they refused to have meetings. clinton was having regular, daily terrorist meetings with all involved. and clinton was doing htis with a republican congress that was tying clintons hands.

media doesnt want the facts

7. Weldon seems most concerned with the 9/11 commission
not including in their final report, the question who stopped the info in Able Danger from getting to the FBI.

Then he says the "American people must rally". Duh, what the hell does he thing we've been trying to do?

8. Why isn't he criticizing how the Bush Administration stonewalled on 9/11?
Bugs me that this guy gets so much attention, when in light of how Bush stalled the 9/11 investigations, all the previous reports about prior knowledge and warnings to Bush have been virtually ignored or glossed over by the media.

11. They knew....
This is what bugs me most:

"The 9/11 commission did not learn of any U.S. government knowledge prior to 9/11 of surveillance of Mohammed Atta or of his cell," said Hamilton, a former Democratic congressman from Indiana. "Had we learned of it obviously it would've been a major focus of our investigation."
.......
But Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman said the 9/11 Commission looked into the matter during its investigation into government missteps leading to the attacks and chose not to include it in the final report.

You see, they knew, but choose not to look at it,

13. The word is 'obstructed', not 'stalled'. To form an investigative
commission of the worst crime in US history and admonish them "not to assign blame", is to obstruct. For both Bush and Cheney to tell Daschle to back off on an investigation is to obstruct. To tamper with evidence at a crime scene, removing the rubble before the investigation is even begun, is to obstruct. To send anthrax to those interested in investigating is, well, murder and attempted murder.

9. I saw Weldon...
...this morning on CSPAN. Not only does he blame Clinton, but also the CIA. Is he trying to discredit them in time for Fitzgeralds indictments?????

I only listened for a little while. It's too ridiculous. He sounds like he's yelling "fire" two years after the house has burned down.

12. Don't believe anything that partisian hypocrite says.
Kurt Weldon was blaming the Clinton administration for September 11 ON September 11, 2001. Cspan has a video clip of him doing this, I saw him that evening all upset and everything and he still managed to blame Clinton in not so many words. I couldn't believe what I was hearing! He knew that his boss (Bush) failed in preventing the tragedy on Sept. 11th, so he started his outrage to thwart the real blame on where it belongs....and that is with GEORGE W. BUSH/RICHARD CHENEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
