My new verses and refrain to The Yellow Rose of Texas, (circa 1836—the original author and copyright is unknown)

There’s soldiers in some foreign lands that we will never see,
No one else it seems will miss them, except their families.
We hurt so when they left us, it like to broke our hearts,
But if we can ever find them, we never more shall part.

Our dearest little children the best we ever knew,
Their eyes as bright as diamonds, they sparkle like the dew;
Their laughter pealed across the air and echoed in the eaves,
We didn’t raise these precious ones to be only memories.

Where landscapes are foreboding ‘neath starry skies so bright,
We wonder what new perils may interrupt their night.
We know that they remember, when we parted long ago,
The promise to return again, and not to leave us so.

I have an example that may inspire you to compose some words in tribute to those at Camp Casey.. The yellow roses in Texas, are more than you can see,
A wrong calling for righting is how they came to be.

There's some work to do in Texas, with a ditch to take a stand.
The heat is hot as blazes, the rain is not so grand.

Rosa Parks sat on a bus and made her a place in history. Does anyone thing that Camp Casey is going to be forgotten anytime soon? It is the first big news of a heroic effort to end the illegal war and to replace the lies in people's heads with some reality. For the sake of posterity we need to advance a symbol that will endure. This is our Boston Tea Party folks. The anti-war effort is headquartered in a ditch and could use any support that anyone can contribute. Sometimes money will not do.

I would like to see some yellow roses appear in Camp Casey, if for no other reason than to have something to add to the story. The same goes for the song. The music is the hard part and it is done.

I think plastic roses are very appropriate and I can tell you that if I went, I would have a flag with a yellow rose on my car antennae from the time I left. I think it is a great opportunity, but I also believe the cream rises to the top. I would like to have the idea reach Camp Casey for their rejection or approval.

You just put up the link without any tags. If you put http://www. before brentwoodcameraclub.org/exhibitions/Cheekwood04/images/Yellow%20Rose%20of%20Cheekwood%208x10%20H.jpg it gives it an address to retreive an image. It just needs to be a .gif
or a .jpeg file to distinquish it.

I guess next we will have to mention transfer paper from Staples to make tee-shirts or flags. It could create something for Peace House to sell, too. This would be so easy to pull off. But then again, whatever.
