I was more confident before Iowa
There was the Gephardt-Dean showdown to distract everyone, and the whole caucus thing which seems designed to eliminate weak candidates and help strong ones. The momentum was absolutely unmistakeable in the polls and news reports.

But NH is obviously much closer to home for Dean and I can't help but imagine his organization is stronger there than in Iowa. He had such a strong lead there for so long that I'm sceptical about the polls that show Kerry way out in front.

I'm holding my breath till it's over.

16. Oh please...Kerry has this thing by 10%+....with all the independent vote
and I'm a Dean supporter.

I think alot of conservative independent crossover will vote pro-war..which is not Dean.

So ...be afraid ...lose sleep...I don't think so.

Kerry by 10+%....

2. I think it's Kerrys really. I heard that Republican Independents
were planning to vote *against* Dean, and they aren't being accounted for in the polls. Heard this today on CNN. I think they are overplaying Dean's chances in NH.

14. The thing is
none of the front men are conservative enough for that independent voter. Sen. Leiberman will likely do better than the polls show.

4. Dean may well pull it off.
I think the polls showing Kerry with a huge lead are way off. I personally think it's gonna be a squeaker.

7. I'm nervous but this is exciting.
There are several candidates I can live with, and a couple I'll vote for with a nose clip. As long as * is removed I'll be happy with any of them though.

10. I'm no demographer, and I don't know what's going to happen,
but NH at least used to be one of the most conservative states in the U.S., and if you look at a map it even looks a bit like Vermont turned upside down. Maybe it's different these days, but I would think Dean would have far less sympathy there than in Iowa. If he's supposed to be Kerry's main competition, than I think we can relax a bit. Who knows? New England Closed Cage Liberal Grudge Match Smackdown! :wow:  :nuke: :spank:  :nuke:

19. Dean is really popular in NH
And Vermont and NH are almost like extensions of each other. I live in Vermont but work in NH. I used to live in NH and work in Vermont. I know and am friends with just as many NH people as Vermont people. The people are pretty much the same. In most areas we have the same network news and print media that covers both states.

22. My wife, who lived in NH for a little while, says
that NH people think people from Vermont are "Liberal Hippie Nuts." Anecdotal, but it does sound like a pretty conservative state, what with the Union-Leader and all.

20. The bulk of the state IS very conservative
which is why Lieberman expected to be able to do well there. Their state government is supersaturated with Republicans, and their state motto is "Live Free or Die".

But...

The Dems in NH tend, whether out of reactionary response to the R's there or whatever, to be quite liberal. This is not Iowa, mind you, nor is it neighboring Mass., but they have a fairly liberal bloc of voters that call themselves "very liberal". That group is pretty solid behind Dean.

To quote Jesse Jackson!

It's far from over. Dean has recovered amazingly, and no one gets the nomination without taking some knocks!

My guy Edwards has no pressure on him so I can relax. Watching the others squirm is interesting.

I can't wait till this time tomorrow !

17. Gephardt lives.
Gephardt is still my candidate even though he's dropped out of the race and I'll have to vote for Kucinich in the Florida primary.

I hope Kerry wins NH to eliminate the possibility of Clark or Edwards getting the nom.
