Predict Dixville Notch NH primary results and win!
free golf lessons from yours truly...

Your lessons will include 3 days of swing instruction on the driving range as well as two 18 hole playing lessons guaranteed to reduce your handicap by at least 5 strokes...

Lessons will be conducted at the beautiful Panorama Course designed by Donald Ross at the The Balsams Resort.

http://www.thebalsams.com/golf.cfm

Dixville Notch is first to vote in New Hampshire and is famous for:

"The voters of Dixville Notch traditionally cast ballots in the New Hampshire primary just after midnight. The town's voters have correctly chosen the eventual Republican nominee every year since 1968.

In 2000:

23 Republicans and six Democrats voted in Dixville Notch on Tuesday morning: Bush, the governor of Texas and son of former President George Bush, claimed 12 GOP ballots to edge out Arizona Sen. John McCain.

On the Democratic side, Bradley beat Vice President Al Gore by a 2-1 margin -- four votes to two.

Predict the Democratic vote before Midnight EST and win!!

small print: winner(s) will cover my expenses including airfare, accomodations, food and many beverages for 3 days.

3. Kerry will win with ALL the votes!
The Balsams is simply an amazing place. This is a tough call.

My logic:
Dean is going to be considered too "left" for this crowd
Kerry will get votes due to his native son status.
Clark is probably of interest, but if you're looking for a vet they'll go with Kerry.
Liberman - doubt he gets a single vote
Edwards - doubt he gets a single vote

14. Kerry is the "native son" in Dixville Notch?
Bwahahahahahaha! Do you even know where Dixville Notch is? It's in the northern most part of NH...and couldn't have less in common with Massachussetts if they tried. They aren't too far from the Vermont border, though. I don't foresee the likely NRA member voters there casting their votes for Kerry.

12. Look, dude, nothing would help my golf game
I took it in college 30 years ago. It was the only course in my college career that I nearly failed. It was pass/fail but I hated it so much, I skipped all the time. Finally, the coach sent me a notice that if I missed another class, I'd fail. So I came back and dug sod/sliced badly for a few more days.

If I win, how about if we spend our golf lesson time just drinking beer in seedy bars?

11. It won't be Kerry or Edwards who wins it
It will be either Dean, Clark or Lieberman. Why? None of the registered voters are Democrats, they're Independents and Republicans. They're most likely hunters, NRA members and budget hawks. Clark is going to be present to greet voters, but NH voters are NOT easily influenced in that way, so it'll be interesting. CSpan broadcasts from Dixville Notch starting at 11:45pm.

16. Being there might backfire actually
NH voters are a whole other breed of folks. They aren't easily influenced and are quite set in their ways. If their mind is made up before they get there, he's not going to influence them in any way. If he's pushy at all it might even hurt him.

30. I don't golf
To be blunt...chasing a little ball around a field and looking at old men with knobby knees adorned in sock garters is not my idea of a good time. I live practically next door to a country club and golf course and still have no interest. But I'll tell you what, you buy your own bus ticket and you can borrow my tent and sleeping bag. Hell, you can even pitch the thing in my back yard and use my shower. I'll even drive you up to Dixville Notch and show you where you can hike and see moose and everything. I'll even buy you some Buck Lure to put on your shoes so you stand a better chance of seeing one! :D

I'm guessing it will be either Dean, Clark or Lieberman who will win in Dixville Notch, just based on common sense about the sort of voters who would live there. It's pretty desolate and northern NH tends to attract the survivalist types for the most part. I suppose a liberal or two might live there, but the majority would be rather conservative.

22. Clark........ Dean, Kerry, Edwards, Lieberman
One of the reasons I think Wes Clark will get their vote is because some people say he's really a Republican and NH is a Republican State.
How's that for a novel reason?

35. Figure half the Repubs and all the Dems
will vote in the Dem primary, because hey, the Repub primary is a real snoozer... so, rounding up, that's 18 votes

Clark - 8
Dean - 6
Kerry - 2
Edwards - 1
Lieberman - 1

Nobody else gets any votes.

Don't golf, so the fine print's not a problem.

And the photos of the leaderboard could be on the front pages of local papers in New Hampshire. What better way to reassure voters he's the best candidate against George W. Bush?
