5. Kerry has the best hair, and I bet he is running
Even though he is Austrian, it looks like Irish hair...

Mitt Romney? That guy's hair is THINNING and DYED--he must use a can of Toppik a day to thicken it up!! His hair looks like a scrawny, patchy version of Wayne Newton's, full of hairspray and faux color...if you lit a match near it, he'd probably go up in flames like Michael Jackson shooting a Pepsi commercial!!!!

47. Sure I would
I voted for the guy, he is my Senator. He has long joked about his Irish name--why not Irish hair? He has a head of hair not dissimilar to Ted's in his youth.

There is a bit of parlor betting that always goes on during national elections, and usually, the guy (always a guy, so far) who is the tallest and who has the best hair wins.

The bit about the bulges and the jeans that you note I simply do not get. The poll question was about hair.

8. On that poll, I had to vote for Edwards,
but I'm trying to keep my mind open to knew hair. I really think it's too early to be talking about best hair. Besides, a lot can happen in 4 years. Greying, balding, dandruff, bad dye jobs, unfortunate trimmer accidents, etc. Let's just try and keep our minds open to new hair, because the best hair now, may not be the best hair in 08'.

38. Edwards could be a real winner.
He's got a lot more going than the hair. 'Course, it doesn't hurt that he's cuter than a speckled pup, but I'd really like to see him take a run at it. He's fresh, different, your classic "boy from hard working family makes good." He could really turn that "trial lawyer" stuff right back on the rethugs. He could make the argument that a "trial lawyer" is on the little guy's side against big bidness . . .

All the other runners have bagage. Bags under their eyes, propped up hair, and, did I mention baggage? I can't get excited about any of 'em.

44. Something wrong with being partisan?
I do hope you will make note that those "partisan" Wes Clark supporters worked their asses off for John Kerry (who without a doubt has the "best" hair by the way) after Clark dropped out.

The majority of folks on DU have their "favorites", it's not like this is exclusive to Clark supporters.

I'm always amazed at the bitterness some posters demonstrate over the fact that General Clark's base is strong and active.

I just don't get it.

74. "Active" is different than "incessant"
This was a bit of a joke: throughout the history of this board, extreme partisans seem to be able to justify voting for their champion no matter what. I'm sure that if a thread for "who's the best female candidate for President" had been posted 16 months ago, there would have been all sorts of posts for the various heroes, all of whom had a better argument than Carol Mosely-Braun.

It's just silly.

Clark's people win here. They OVERWHELMINGLY win. They've done so since November '03. Somehow that doesn't translate into the rest of the world, but who's to say why?

It's not just an issue of Clark's supporters, it's an issue of extreme partisanship. One of the most riveting moments in the the over four years I've been on this board was the weekend when the Clark supporters systematically blizzarded the board. The Deanies (who had been ridiculously tiresome with the same tactics) were dumbfounded to be beaten by their same tactics. It was like dynamiting out an oil fire: the incredulity was palpable.

The dynamic of such a place like this tends to repeat itself with different vortexes of power, but the spirit is the same.

So, to answer your question: partisanship shows verve, but knowing when to stop is is the issue. Worse still, when you're in the camp of those who've ABUSED communal acceptance, goodwill and tolerance, don't carp about being victimized. It's like the fundamentalists who bellyache about Christianity being suppressed when their guess has more sanctioned power than any other.

PM me if this doesn't satisfy.

81. Worst still?
I don't "carp" nor have I ever "abused" much of anything...not my style, and I'm sure as hell not claiming to be a victim. (yes I know, you're not accusing me personally yada yada...just us "partisans" in general)

I do seem to notice the above mentioned traits in your post however...go figure.

Seems being a Democrat means being in the middle of a feral cat fight...and everyone knows, ya' can't herd cats.

All this over a kinky poll about hair. LOL

50. I don't understand why you are calling me out on this thread.
I haven't done or said anything to you, or about you. I did nothing more than state that I like Wes Clark's hair in a thread about politician's hair. I honestly do like his hair and I don't understand how you can possibly have a problem with that.

I simply can't understand why you have to make every innocent little remark or post into some huge partisan matter and I find it truly offensive that you would call me out in this fashion completely out of the blue.

Although Hillary has gotten the hair thing down very well now, as well. Wes Clark's hair is perfect because you don't really notice it. It's well behaved but doesn't command attention. I hope by the time the primaries come around the same can be said for his suits and ties. He looks best in uninform or casual. The suits and ties were not good in the last primary cycle.

48. Suits (ye olde mufti) are often a problem for retired military officers
They generally only have one or two stuffed in the closet for emergencies (wedding, funeral, or civilian clothing event) during their career, along with the standard grey and khaki slacks and blue sport coat and striped tie, usually worn with bad shoes, a light blue shirt and aviator sunglasses. They don't keep up with fashion trends, and stick out like sore thumbs, especially if they are in heavy operational rotation and don't have opportunities to really see how the civilians live on a day to day basis.

The sharpest dressed personnel at CINCUSNAVEUR (a London command where civilian clothes were worn by all personnel) were the junior enlisted. They spent the money (one got a clothing allowance) on Armani, while the cheapskate officers tended to shop via mail order or at the exchange and pocket the diff.

53. Also, remember that Wes has "Swimmer" shoulders....
So his suit size is probably a bit off....when buying off the rack. Probably needs more tayloring than the merchants can do to the "T".

If he was a "Big Spender"....like a lot of the "image" concious politicians...then he might spend big bucks on clothing like some of them do.

Actually the ill fit of some of his suits has endeared me to him. Makes him a real person instead of one of those "Catalogue" politicians...who have not one "hair" out of place...and suits are purchased custom made.

Still all in all, Wes still carries himself in a way where he looks Heck of dignified with outstanding bearing ....which is more than I can say for some (custom fit and all!)
