Two thoughts/questions about Ms. Sheehan
1. Bush will not be talking to her or meeting with her. She knows it. And there is nothing in it for Bush. He could not pull off being consoling or compassionate. We need to support her in every way possible, including going to Crawford. Demand answers to her questions. But Bush won't be talking to her.

2. Why do we have to do a "Cindy" fest? The Cindy this, Cindy that stuff in here is starting to bother me. It's like Frist and DeLay calling her "Terri." "Mrs. Sheehan" is just more dignified. And I do not know the lady personally. Anymore than the freepers knew "Terri."

1. Why are you comparing Ms. Sheehan...
...to someone whose brain stopped working over a decade ago?

If Ms. Sheehan doesn't want the attention, she has every means to do so.

3. I'm not comparing her to Ms. Schiavo at all.
I'm saying that the "Cindy" stuff seems awfully familiar. I know her from her blog and what I read here. I'm behind her 100%. But I don't know her well enough to call her Cindy, just like Frist & Co. did not know her well enough to call her "Terri," even if they had seen her video.

5. I think this is about adressing her respectfully as "Ms. Sheehan"
rather than informally as "Cindy". The comparison with Terri is that the radical fundamentalists refered to her informally, and like they actually had a relationship with her, and this is how the OP feels about refering to Cindy Sheehan as just "Cindy". Also that even if Mr.bush does not acknowledge her, we still need to support her.

In response, I am used to calling other adults of my age by their first name, so that is ok with me. Mr.bush I refer to in that way as sarcasm, not out of any respect. I can call Cindy Cindy respectfully, but I see your point also.

2. well...
I can see your point but since she actually addresses correspondence to all of us en masse and we have a bit of a back and forth going with donations and support and all that, it's a bit different. You hear her voice, she is speaking to us and we do start feeling like we know her.

Whereas Terri Schiavo was braindead, not asking for any intervention, it's way different IMO!

4. Well, to me, it's not just about her, at all...
It's really about what she's doing--the cause, and the symbol she represents--for other greiving families, and for those opposed to this war-based-on-lies in general.

Cindy Sheehan is a symbol for so many left rudderless because of a loved one or friend suddenly taken from them in this conflict--something many of them did not want; did not want to be sent into, or to be sent BACK into. She's fighting back the only way she knows how., and fighting for all of those people, not just for her son or for herself.

That's why she makes ME proud of her, and proud to be an American--an American for peace, that is!

B-)

6. I've met her. Just briefly at a rally, and our only interaction was at a Q
&A time, but I will still call her Cindy.

I don't think she gives a hoot what we call her as long as we do not give up this fight.

8. Right. And as long as we don't call her
"Mom" like Bush did.
