Cavuto on "Jewish group ticked off by" Falwell's "Vote Christian" message

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,165344,00.html

NEIL CAVUTO, HOST: Vote Christian in 2008, it's a statement my next guest made last year, sending out letters and bumper stickers to raise money for his ministries. Now a Jewish group is ticked off by that. The Anti-Defamation League wants him to retract the statement. So, what does he think about all this? Let's ask him, the Reverend Jerry Falwell, the founder of Liberty University and the Moral Majority. We called, by the way, the Anti-Defamation League. They declined our request. Reverend, good to you have.

---snip---

FALWELL: Last November 30, following the election, when all the pundits were saying the faith and values people had helped reelect George Bush, we reorganized and reestablished the Moral Majority Coalition. And we put out a letter. And, in it, we said: Don't vote Republican. Don't vote Democrat. Vote Christian. That was November 30. Some of our friends called us immediately and said, That's going to be misunderstood. Some will think, you are saying vote only for Christians, when, of course, everybody who knows us knows we are pro-Israel, pro-Jewish, so forth. So, we stashed it. That was nine months ago. And then, suddenly, Tuesday, Abe Foxman at ADL, who is my friend — at least I thought he was. He has my number. I have his phone number. Instead of picking up the phone and calling me, if, indeed, somebody did hit him with it, and saying, Jerry, what's this all about? I would have told him, we had stashed it, nine months ago. Instead, he puts out a press statement. And here I am answering the press all day today over something that's been dead for nine months. I think it's because this is August. It's a slow month for nonprofits. Maybe it's a good fund-raising thing. I don't know.

CAVUTO: Let's get the statement from them. I think we have it here. But, bottom line, they're saying: "Reverend Falwell should retract his divisive and un-American call to action. Appeals to voters should not be on the basis of religion, nor should a candidate's religious beliefs be a litmus test for public office." What do you think of that?

FALWELL: Well, that's exactly what we said nine months ago. And there have been 50 letters since then.

2. "Christians" (quote, unquote) like Fall-bad, are only pro-Israel because
it feeds the fears of hellfire and brimstone they've imbedded in their flock.

That once it falls, it's gone.

You know, I actually believe in the fall of the Dome of the Rock, but, I believe that the theo-cons will be the one's left behind. The don't know Jesus or any of His friends.

4. I bet these "pro Israel" christians would be apalled if a Jew
moved next door.

They support the abstract Jewish nation as a way of fulfilling their end-of-world prophecies.

They would not be so supportive of a rela flesh-and-blood Jew meeting them in their daily life.

5. US support for Israel and Armageddon
I think you're absolutely right, and guess what, it doesn't even seem to be a secret that they think so. Read this recent post, for example.

7. Can't have it both ways. Anti-Defamation League didn't criticize other
Jewish groups when they cuddled up to Falwell and other Christian fundmentalists who supported illegal settlements in disputed territory that does not necessarily belong to Israel and who supported the rabid right-wing Likud with its anti-Palestinian policies such as eviction from and destruction of the latter's homes.

17. Could you please be specific and enlighten us as to WHICH
Jewish groups have "cuddled up", to use your offensive phrase, to Falwell?

As for your description of the Likud as "rapid" and "anti-Palestinian" when in fact it is a Likud-led coalition which is forcing the excruciating withdrawal and ethnic cleansing OF JEWS from Gaza and the West Bank, it is more than a little over the top.

These JEWISH people will lose their homes and businesses, which also support Palestinians by the way, in a last-ditch attempt to try and get along with the Arabs - an effort which is deeply wounding the nation of Israel emotionally, spiritually and militarily - not to mention the human beings and their animals who will lose THEIR homes. Considering that Israel is a nation of refugees, many from Arab violence, the fact that they are now making refugees of their own people is deeply troubling.

Each of these despicable Jewish settler households reportedly supports many stray animals - who must now find shelter or die. Even zoos have been relocated. Businesses and farms that have taken a lifetime of hard work to create and nurture will be lost. Have you no empathy whatsoever for THESE people and their sorrow? Concern for the Arab people is laudable but it must be balanced by recognition of the humanity of the Israeli people as well.

The I/P situation is far too complex to be reduced to a one-sided rant. And moreover the fact that people of different backgrounds and outlooks might find common cause on a particular interest does not mean they are lovers.

I suggest a personal recon for fleas, my friend.

8. for all their friendly outward appearence
conservative christians believe that a jewish person, attending to their faith, would burn in hell.

how can you be ''friends'' with a creature like that?
how can you, in your bones, EVER believe a snake like that would be on your side, support for israel or not?

it's the lowest grade hate possible for a human being to exhibit.

conservative christians are not christian.
