Vanity Fair drops a bomb in the forest and no one hears it!
Edited on Thu Aug-11-05 12:50 AM by Check12
The revelations in the vanity fair article are serious. The speaker of the house was possibly involved in bribery and the corporate media is silent. They were silent on the DSM and it fucking worked! nobody thinks it is important because NBC says it isn't. This is really bad! our press is now like the old Soviet Tass news service.

The Sibel Edmonds story is also very disturbing. Ashcroft gags her and members of congress using the sate secrets act and this is not important news? the missing white girl in Aruba trumps Sibel Edmonds?

I am so sad for this busted up mess of a country we now live in.
When and if the pendulum swings our way I say show them no mercy for their crimes against the people of this nation. No pardons, no immunity, frog march the bastards every last one of them starting with the CEOs of the broadcast companies for their criminal negligence.

1. It is not available here yet.
Check each day, but it is still the August edition. We ask when Sept will be out, and they have no answers.

2. We sold out of it today
But I think most people are buying it for the stupid-ass Jennifer Aniston interview.

Only matters that they keep reading.

35. Getting to the point - it's getting difficult keeping up with Bush bad
reports, we have to repost to keep important stories such as Sibel Edmunds, especially the DSM and don't forget about Denny Hastert's no-no

Hoping Fitzgerald indicts and tells us exactly what went down, why and who??!!

4. Real media is available to those who are willing to find it on the net,
or pay for satellite TV.
My brother and I watched the Sibel Edmonds story on Democracy Now this afternoon, and he was astounded that he had never heard about her.
We agreed, is that really a surprise? We watched a doc about Noam Chomsky right after that. He now wants to read Chomsky.
I'm weaning him away from CNN. He's already on our side, just very argumentative.

7. IT'S V. IMPT. TO RECOGNIZE
the 2 most impt. things that are broken right now and that we MUST fix are the media and elections.

Re- the media, I hope you're all aware of: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=109x21930 : Democrats Move to Re-Regulate Media

I don't know current status, sorry.

Unless we fix those 2 things, and only slightly less urgently, public education, I personally don't think much else we attempt will be of any lasting use.

Without the assurance of a fair election and a new fairness doctrine, it will be extremely hard to break the neocon strangle-hold.

You are absolutely right.

14. "Fake news" is great. Ignorance is truth!
It's the fake news masquerading as plain old "news" that's killing this country.

Ignorance is truth.

11. It's almost as if
It's almost as if the media waits to see what the WH response is going to be.

It's almost as if the more outrageous the crime, the least eager the media is to report it.

It's almost as if we have a free press.

It'a almost as if we have a democracy.

by General Electric, one of those "military industrial complex" industries that former President Dwight Eisenhowser warned us about, has anything to do with their piss poor coverage? Nah, nothing to see here folks, just move along.:sarcasm:

All this Republican ass kissing by the corporate media whores is getting mighty old. Notice how MSNBC is looking more and more like FauxNews everyday? We as a country need to stand up for what is right - right now - or we'll have ourselves to blame as well. Peace.

34. I read this issue Saturday in B&N - Helluva an issue
Edited on Mon Aug-15-05 12:18 PM by RamboLiberal
The issue is full of great stories. Don't forget the one on how military recruiters are cheating badly because they are so desparate for warm bodies.

Maybe VF is making up for running the Klein book crap smearing Hillary. I noted they had a ton of letters on that issue - none supporting them running the book excerpts.

Since today is payday I'm going to have to go out and buy a copy. At $4.95 it's damn well worth it. I think I'll copy the articles and leave it sit in the lunch room - maybe some of the Repukes I work with will read some of it.

matter.

The cabal will stop at nothing to retain power, and yes, the corporate media shares much of the blame for not getting real news out.
