Unlikely leader (Dean meetup infiltrated/taken over by GOP)
Edited on Mon Jan-26-04 08:57 PM by Gman
<snip>
Last month, a Republican lawyer in Mississippi who previously lived here in Washington, infiltrated a Howard Dean for President "meet-up" in Jackson. He took charge of more than the meeting.
"I'm basically now head of Central Mississippians for Dean," J. Kevin Broughton tells Inside the Beltway.
The handful of Dean supporters on hand included a political consultant who was state chairman of Al Gore's 1988 presidential campaign, a retired Army colonel, a local broadcaster and a pair of middle-aged women.
Honest lawyer he is, and feeling a bit guilty, Mr. Broughton decided to come clean.
"I disclosed that I was a Republican, interested in seeing Dean take Mississippi's delegates and win the nomination. I had to take charge of the meeting," he explains. "They were all talking about how Bush lied about WMDs and how sick it was that Arnold got elected in California.

What the hell is this about? I didn't see this posted in LBN or here. Anybody know what this is about?

1. Weirdness
There was something a similar story coming out of South Carolina, too. Maybe somebody will have the link.

2. Good judgement is pretty rare w/ Republicans these days
If they want to run their party off a cliff, let them.

3. nothing unusual
Most Republicans are supporting Dean, and were upset when he blew it in Iowa. They're dying for the chance to crush him. From what I've read, the GOP wants more than a win, they want a landslide in order to establish a governing majority, a clear mandate from the people. With Dean as a candidate the GOP believes it can win 40 states.

4. Dean is a disaster for us.
The pukes know it. Anyone with any political sense knows it. This doesn't surprise me.

5. How's that Democratic Party doing in Indiana?
Anyone with political sense knows only Dean can win.

(End baseless claim here)

9. Unfortunately we don't matter...
...our primary is too late and we vote puke to about a 90% certainty.

My only hope is an Evan Byah Vice Presidential nod.

Oh...And if it matters...Dean = Not only a landslide for the idiot but a chance for a filibuster-proof Senate for the pukes. Dean will implode worse than in Iowa and take us all with him if given the chance.

8. How nice, a sexist & Dean bashing story all at once from RW W. Times
"The handful of Dean supporters on hand included a political consultant who was state chairman of Al Gore's 1988 presidential campaign, a retired Army colonel, a local broadcaster and a pair of middle-aged women."

Did these women have no jobs like the other attendees (including homemaker)? How much do you want to bet that the attendees who were identified by job were all men?

Geez, these Repugs are sickening.

10. Not unexpected. We were warned early last year by a College Dem
who used to post here that the College Repubs in NH were working for Dean.

Repubs in my family sent Dean money.

Republicans are sick about power and they will do anything to keep it.
