Senator, Rep. say $30K may not be tainted

"Tainted? Our money? We're shocked! Shocked, I tell you!"

PORTSMOUTH — A U.S. senator and representative from New Hampshire each received about $15,000 in campaign contributions from a political action committee criticized for improperly spending unregulated soft money and whose executive director has been indicted for money laundering.

But Sen. John Sununu and Rep. Jeb Bradley say it's too early to tell if the funds they received from the group, Americans for a Republican Majority Political Action Committee, are linked to any scandals.

State Rep. Peter Sullivan, D-Manchester in a statement Saturday called on Bradley to donate the $15,000 he received to a New Hampshire charitable organization and not accept more funds from the group.

"If Jeb decides to keep the money, it is further proof that his loyalties lie with crooked Texas politicians and not with the people of New Hampshire," Sullivan said in the statement, released by the group Citizens for Sullivan.
