"The president has squandered our resources, " Dean on Iran threats. |
|
Edited on Sun Aug-14-05 10:30 AM by madfloridian
Will have to catch exact ones on the tape, but he made it clear Bush needed to watch the empty rhetoric about Iran so to speak. Hubby agrees he as much as said we don't have the resources to attack Iran.
That was an important moment when he said that. He will catch flak, but people will listen.
Good job on Face the Nation, being pummeled by Harris and Schieffer.

going to be on one of the Sunday shows and was looking for news on DU but it was a later one :)
Was Schieffer giving Dean flak?
Did Dean give flak back to harris(katherine?)?

3. Taped it all, just caught last 10 minutes. |
|
Sounded to me like he was saying we needed to be careful about threats if we were not able....will get more of his words later.
Hubby said he said that he and all Americans wanted answers, just like Cindy Sheehan does. Said we deserve answers.
Schieffer misquoted what he said once, and Dean jumped in and said Bob that is not what I said at all.

4. Threats toward Iran Bush is making right now, referred to them. |
|
Something like we let NK and Iran have 5 years to build while we were tied down in Iraq. He squandered our resources.

8. Found this at Kos, Dean is concerned about Iraqi women. |
|
Among other things. He sounds like he is wavering a little on the staying there part...cautiously.
This is from PLS at Kos. "Dean was willing to take the lead as usual. He stated that if the new constitution in Iraq leaves women worse off than they were under Saddam, "I cannot imagine what we are doing there." He said that we have to start thinking about how to get out at this point, and emphasizes over and over that "these guys don't know what they are doing". He does state that it would be a mistake to get out before they have even written a constitution however.
When asked about Cindy, he stated that we all need these questions answered, he didn't back away for (from) her at all."
I will check out the tape more later.
I think he may have put the brakes on Bush's Iran threats, I really do. That took courage.

11. But at least he called them out on not being able to attack Iran. |
|
It is the closest I have heard to calling them out on our losing our power. I am wondering why no one else is especially impressed by it, as the neocon arm of the party is pressing hard now.
So little comment on this statement, and he repeated it when Schieffer twisted it. He left no doubt of what he said.
He as much as said we were not able to attack Iran.

12. Not having $$$ won't stop em from warring. It goes on our Credit card. |
|

And our kids' credit card. And our grandkids.
They WANT to bankrupt the country so the people will be beholden ONLY to their corporate employers.
I'm glad Dean is saying it and hope more Dems follow suit. It was a main statement that Kerry made in 2004 - Bush was squandering the nation's goodwill and its treasure for his arrogance.
I am happy with the tack Dean is taking as far as pointing out the CORRUPTION of the Republican party as a campaign theme for 2006. I noticed the same language in Kerry's last mailing and I see they are working off the same page. I hope ALL Dems grab this theme.

Maybe their own will wake up and fight. However, I think it took courage for him to say that, and I am giving credit on it.

13. There IS a very scary option the NeoCons are dying to use. |
|
They have been trying to get the American public to accept the battlefield use of their "cute nukes". They MAY justify the use of a pre-emptive NUCLEAR attack on Iran by citing the reasons listed above. Especially if they can get the CorpoMedia to go along with another DrumBeat to WAR Media extravaganza!

It is the president who needs a plan, Democrats are not able to make those plans...president's job.
He pointed out how they went in with no plans, we need a "reasonable" way to get out.
He said "Bob, the president is the commander in chief!" he stressed the president is the one to come up with a plan.
Dean showed a lot of concern for the plight of the Iraqi women. He feels that now they will be worse off. I have not heard others speak of the women's problems there.
On Cindy: of course Bush needs to talk with her. "he asked her to give up her son...for what".what are these people doing..they ignored military experts.

home and reading up on what went down on FTN.
I'm glad Dean is bringing up Iran and Cindy Sheehan!
Any former president we ever had would have talked to Cindy but bush isn't really a president ..he's showing all the world what a chimp he is.

First he made clear the NARAL ad noise was to distract from the fact that the president had not released Roberts' records.
He said we need to wait on this. Roberts has an engaging, winsome personality, and we do need to look for judicial temperament...used Scalia as a bad example.
Said Roberts appears to nt have much sympathy with civil rights issues, and he must explain the Federalist Society mess.
