Mother's stand becomes a movement

As protest music filled the air, Sheehan hopped up into the bed of a pickup truck, holding a folded United States flag, and addressed the crowd of all ages and race that had flocked to see her. "Who knew the end of the occupation of Iraq would begin in Crawford, Texas, last Saturday?" she asked, eliciting cheers. "Who knew America would stand up and say 'We're sick of this s—-, bring'em home!'"



Sheehan's soft voice cracked — she's been on a non-stop media interview schedule all week — as she explained that the hundreds of backers gathered Saturday had renewed her faith in the country she hated after Casey died on Apr. 4, 2002, in Sadr City, Iraq.

With Sheriff's deputies and secret service looking on, Sheehan charged Bush with lying to rally public support for the war, and said he should do "the honorable thing and resign."

"And if you don't, I will work my butt off to see you impeached."

So how do we do it? Other than Howard Dean and a few others, the Dempcrats are not ready to take on the rethugs.
