Something Cindy needs to factor into her talking points this week
Howard Dean said something very important today in his interview: If women in Iraq have fewer rights than before, then what are we doing in Iraq?

What he is saying is that we have failed to increase the level of freedom and democracy in Iraq. It is a direct counter to the presidents' fall-back "freedom and democracy" reason for the cause of the war. Having countered the president's last excuse for the war, what is his excuse now? This falls directly within Cindy Sheehan's line of questioning. I think Howard Dean has read the tea leaves in the Cindy Sheehan Confrontation correctly and is helping to push it forward now. Yay Dean.

Still, Cindy is out on the Ranch, so I hope someone tells her about Dean's interview and what he said. It could help her in talking to the press and responding to the president in the following week. And being a woman herself, Cindy is the perfect spokesperson to forward that line of attack.

The purity and simplicity of her message is what draws people to her.

This isn't a R/L battle, it's a battle between what's right and wwhat's wrong.

2. agreed. she doesn't need an "agenda". Her pain is her agenda and
her need to demand answers regarding her son's needless death.

7. Yeah, and this fact forwards that.
Look, Cindy got to where she is today by learning information: from the Downing Street memos, from government investigation reports, from newspapers, etc. Learning that the last-ditch justification for the war is also somewhat hollow only strengthens her case that her son did not die in a noble cause. His death has effectively bought less freedom and a worse situation for the Iraqi people. That is exactly what Cindy has been talking about and holding George Bush accountable for.

3. Duh. But...
I'm just saying that this is new and current information she can use in that message. It fits perfectly. The fact is that women in Iraq are less free. She can use that in the same way that she uses the fact that Iraq was not tied to 9/11. Keeping her current with what's going on while she's somewhat isolated (and busy) out in crawford is hardly putting words in her mouth. And this development could help her make her case and I hope someone tells her about it.

4. I dunno about that...

Poppy knew what would happen by removing Saddam? Are you saying we should let George Jr. sit back and play dumb?

Google "Why We Didn't Remove Saddam" if you don't know what I refer to.

5. Again--it's HER message. Yes someone can tell her about all this, but
I think it's a bad idea to cloud her issue too much.

We are free to disagree, that's the beauty of all of this.

I'm old enough to remember Viet Nam protests--the message was very simple: Get us the hell out.

6. Fuck talking points
and the science of RW bullshit delivery systems. She doesn't need a catapult.

Cindy has put a human face and a human heart on Bushco's illegal war of acquisition.

Let her BE.

9. Cindy should stick to her message
It's done more in one week than anything else has in the past 4 years.

10. I don't think she HAS "talking points"
Her message is her message, is coming from her gut, and is not available for tweeking.

She doesn't have consultants, she doesn't fax or receive talking points from the central office. She's just a mom who doesn't want to see any more young men die.

Period.
