Does this hold up today?
Edited on Mon Aug-15-05 08:00 AM by CrackpotAmerica
I can't put my finger on it, but something has inspired me to go back into my archives and see if what I had felt way-back-when still holds weight today. Of course, my "archives" are nothing more than a bunch of text files saved in a folder entitled "CRACKPOT" on my mac.

I wrote this letter to the President after one of his debates (if you wish to call them "debates") with John Kerry:

Dear Bush Administration

First off, your homepage has a splash that says in bold, "We're just getting started." Not more than 6 months ago, the President repeatedly stated "We're turning the corner..." on the same broad issues in a range of speeches. Well, which is it? Or, are you "Just getting started on turning the corner?"

Secondly, I just saw your new television spot criticizing Senator Kerry on his "pass the global test" remark. Let me say, I fully believe that you have deliberately taken his comment completely out of context; further, you have done this to a degree that supersedes any slick tactic of context manipulation inherent to both parties in their quest for the White House.

Nowhere in his words were any implications that Senator Kerry was speaking of our domestic security. Rather, he was speaking (as he had thoroughly throughout the debate) of Mr. Bush's complete disregard for any opinions by the global community and the UN that were in opposition of his illogical crusade to oust Saddam Hussain. (He actually used the word "crusade" on several occasions.)

What you are doing, Mr. President, is isolating this country, just as those world tyrants whom you state that you oppose are doing. That is a fact, Mr. President. Senator Kerry IN CONTEXT recognizes this and is aware that our great nation cannot succeed without the fiscal, military, ideological, and ethical support of the rest of the free world. Invading another country preemptively against the wisdom and advice of the rest of the free world is fully in line with the true meaning of " passing the global test" and is in no way a granting of veto power to the world on domestic security. You know this, Mr. President, as do I and approximately half of the voting public. On their behalf, I implore you to refrain from insulting our intelligence again.

And so, as a citizen of this nation, I must make my most sincere request that you refrain from lying to the American people to this degree. Not all of us are complete idiots, as you and your constituents seem to believe based on your use of repetitive slander and deceit in every public glimpse of your administration, and those of us who are not susceptible to your IL Duce-esque brand of campaigning are frankly getting sick and tired of hearing it. Please be aware that there are millions of us. And so, if you happen to fool enough of the American people to get a second term, you are still required to listen to, value, and most importantly, serve us above yourself, as you have sworn to do.

Sincerely,

A G
