dems likely to give roberts a free pass to SCOTUS
Democrats have decided that unless there is an unexpected development in the weeks ahead, they will not launch a major fight to block the Supreme Court nomination of John G. Roberts Jr., according to legislators, Senate aides and party strategists.

In a series of interviews in recent days, more than a dozen Democratic senators and aides who are intimately involved in deliberations about strategy said that they see no evidence that most Democratic senators are prepared to expend political capital in what is widely seen as a futile effort to derail the nomination.:wtf: WP 8/16/05 http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/08/15/AR2005081501433.html?referrer=email

2. I'm betting he will get at least 70 votes
Probably more.

I don't blame the Democrats though. They don't have much to work with. The WH is refusing to release documents.

3. The democratic party is like my dog
She's tiny but terribly ferocious. Growls and barks at strangers. But when those strangers approach, she rolls over and is submissive. Maybe not a great analogy, but you get the point. All bark, no bite, let's play and be friends.

4. I think they are hoping that he will be another Souter
I still think there are lots of questions Roberts needs to answer or clarify and if he doesn't I hope enough Dems will vote against him to seriously warn the WH that future nominees could have a even harder road.

5. The Demo leaders are failing the Country. They have not done one thing
to stop the rush toward fascism. Some times you wonder who's side they are on. Bushco supports the wealthy and the Demo leaders are mostly wealthy, you decide.
I can't believe that not one Demo leader has spoken up against the Bushco move to put the judiciary branch of government under the control of Congress. The next step would be to put both under the control of the executive branch. Bingo, dictatorship. Bushy himself said it would be better for the Country to have a dictator if it was him. Why so little Demo outrage.

7. If Senator Cantwell votes for Robert
I won't vote for her in 2006 -- because I will NOT vote for a Republican.

Never again will I vote for someone just because they claim to be a "D".

Also Harry Reid is a big sack of lying shit -- and he is most certainly a useless Republican or a DINO.

He puts on a wind bag show of standing up to the Republicans and some people on DU are so thrilled -- or faked out by that useless sack of shit Reid.

10. Never for a second..
.... did I believe that the Dems would put up any kind of fight.

If you watch a garden slug slither slowly across the dirt, you don't expect it to suddenly break into a run. :)
