What's the deal with Cindy's husband?
Personally I don't care and it does not have anything to do with her protest. It is Cindy's personal family business but I have already had 3 assholes tell me he is leaving her because of her opposition to the war and bush.

These fuckwads are pissing me off!!!!!!!!!!

2. If so, that is his decision

and doesn't make him any more right or wrong than her. Its a personal thing, the kind of thing that the stress of death of a son can cause. And that is the cruxt of the whole problem; their son need not be dead.

4. I'll bet you a dime to a dollar that "someone" got to him. >
Even if a divorce were pending -- ESPECIALLY if a divorce were pending -- the Bushista operatives were laying cash on the line, buying whatever they could to discredit Cindy.

16. Take off the tinfoil hat. It makes the rest of us look silly.
Here at DU, everytime something bad happens, somebody wants to see a Rove operative. It reminds me of the way some fundamentalist Christians see Satan behind everything.

Sometimes, -- SHIT HAPPENS.

23. You're naive if you don't think Rove is capable of this
I've seen too much of his bs to think otherwise.

24. And you are giving Rove WAY too much credit.
He can't be everywhere, doing everything at once.

25. Read post #22, this thread.
If you want to give Rove credit for this, then you have to believe that he knew all about it back in June. To believe that you have to believe that Rove knows everything about everybody.

Now take off the tinfoil hat.

6. I heard somewhere that is was because of the death of her son.. I
suspect that maybe they each had to grieve in their own ways and they took separate roads...they were already separated before she went to Camp Crawford..

7. Death of a child
is one of the more common reasons for marriage breakup. Whether it is a factor in this case is frankly none of my business, but to politicize such a very personal decision in the absence of facts is inappropriate.

11. makes or breaks
a relationship oftentimes. i've known more who split, than bond-
But Cindy's relationship with her husband, has no bearing on anything.
It only deepens my compassion for her, and her immediate family.

People are so cruel and petty.

13. over 90% divorce after the death of a child
I remember the statistics from several years ago. One theory is that the loss of a child is so painful to both parents that they can not support or help each other.

8. The reasons for their divorce are their own.
Google up some statistics on couples' divorce rates after the death of a child. Cite those facts and the organization of the survey's origin. That being said, remind these idiots on any radio show, in any newspaper, etc. that this is the Sheehan's PERSONAL business. It is not the business of anyone, she is not the President of the US for Christ's sakes. :smirk:

9. I Don't Believe He would divorce Cindy
over what she's doing now so it had to be due to stress over losing their firstborn son on battlefield. It happens to lots of parents losing their child. I hope he knows what an awesome and extraordinary Cindy is, though.

12. She has said on the radio that he supports her philosophically.
I took that to mean that he supports what she is doing.

I could be wrong, but I think what she is doing has nothing to do with it. Losing children often drives married couples apart -- I can only surmise because the difficulty of dealing with such a loss vastly complicates everything.

I cannot imagine it. Who could?

Gee, I haven't heard from one of my brothers since my mother died 3 years ago. (Nor he me.)

15. Excuse me? What a disrespectful thing to say.
Mr. Sheehan also suffered a devastating loss when his son was killed in Iraq.

It's not for you to sit in judgement of him or anyone else whose child was killed in this insane war.

19. Losing a child is tough on anoy marriage
and I think Cindy said in her Kos diary that it was the strain of her picking this path that was in part to blame. Separation and all.

But still, losing a child can't be easy on any relationship.

22. Yes...From Cindy's posting on M. Moore's site
The first one is about my divorce. I addressed this on my blog the other night. My divorce was in the works way before I came out to Crawford. My husband filed the papers before this all started. It just recorded last Friday. My husband didn’t know that it would become public record, and public knowledge. He had told his lawyer not to serve me with the paperwork or even bother me while I was at Camp Casey. He was trying to do the right thing. He didn’t want me to find out. Enough about that.

20. Recall that they have no minor children at home
It might be just one more "empty nest" divorce. Not discounting the effect of death, though. A distant relative of mine lost 2 of 4 kids in a house fire, and always wondered if his wife had been more level-headed in an emergency whether the other two could have been saved. They were divorced within a year.

27. My take is...
That no matter what the reason, it's obvious that this was released to make Sheehan look silly and off her rocker. Why else would this be news? People get divorced everyday. You can be sure you'll hear Fox and Limbaugh go off about this all week.

29. The real emotional story? We will not know. They lost their son.
That 90% divorce rate after the death of a child is correct.

My sister and her husband divorced after their son, a five year old died in a household accident. They were never the same. They divorced a year later. Our whole family was never the same.

This sister of mine had her husband to be blown up in Vietnam when I was in eighth grade. She was to leave that weekend to meet him in Hawaii to marry. They knew each other since kidergarten.

My 509 paratooper dad that fought in N. Africa and Italy and got shot up, who got a Purple Heart was devistated from both.

The emotions of death from needlessness strain everything.
