Anybody heard from Subway yet? I left them a message on their website letting them know what the reality of this event is, and that a lot of people would never eat their sandwiches again if they went through with this.

Hell, I'm still pissed about them killing the SubClub cards anyway.

1. I've not heard from them
and I sent a message a week ago when the event first came to light. I'm hopeful that Subway will see that they'll loose a ton of business and cut their ties to this poorly thought out event.

Quiznos has great subs! (and no Jared!!)

2. So did the American Friends Service Committee

The Washington Post has dropped its sponsorship of the "Freedom Walk."

I'm amazed!

They obviously read my email...

3. Can you imagine the collection of carnival freaks that will assemble
for that pro-death rumsfeld monster rally? They will all expect a free subway and a large fanta orange.

4. There is a thread in the Activist Forum

with a list of the sponsors. I sent a comment to Stars & Stripes and I also told Subway I would be getting my subs from Quiznos or a local deli from now on. I told them they are sponsoring a lie and that only the Post has done the right thing. I included this:

The Guild supports the Post's stated intention of honoring the nation's veterans, including those who have served in Iraq," the resolution said. "But the Post undermines this goal by lending its support to a political event that links the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks to the war in Iraq -- a link that the Post, in its reporting, has shown to be false."

I'm mad at Subway because they stopped the coupons, too. If they lost any customers for that, hopefully they will lose more now.

EDIT: I also told them they should be donating their efforts to getting our soldiers the armor they need. I'm sure S&S will like that!

5. Thanks for your support, Carla. Here's what DU can do.......
Great to see that Malloy is giving this some exposure, I had thought DU was alone in this.

"Boycott Subway - Korporate Sponsor "America Supports You Freedom Walk"", at http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=106x21522 - lists all the current sponsor, links to the WP withdrawal post, and gives Subway Korporate contact and worldwide restaurant locations.

It could use your assisance.

thanks

6. Hi there!
No response yet from my emails to S&S or Subway. I haven't gotten a response from some other web sites I posted to last night either, but there is still a little time left to keep trying.

Yesterday was my first day at the computer in about a week. How someone gets pneumonia in SoCal in August is beyond me. I can be pretty stubborn when it comes to taking time out, and I've paid for it!
Anyway, although I still am not fully recovered and my loving husband has suggested I not go, I'm going to attend the vigil this evening at the Orange Historical Plaza in OC. A relapse of my symptoms is nothing, nothing compared to the pain and suffering Cindy Sheehan and others have and will suffer. I will stand with the others until the sickness this administration has caused is gone!
And in the morning, I will still ask for the same three things I have been asking for for the last week; more sleep, Zicam and an impeachment.
