If You Voted Repub Last 2 Elections, How You Liking Things So Far?
138,000 soldiers in Iraq, more and more dying every day, War in Afghanistan heating up again, Public Treasury looted by war profiteer buddies of Bush & Cheney, Nation Debt exploding, interest rates rising, the price of gas over $2.50/gal so far, price of goods and services rising along with price of gas, oil over $66/barrel, no improvement in healthcare with more uninsured, jobs flowing out of US at record rate, job layoffs everywhere, new jobs created in US mostly service sector pay average $8/hr - most with no benefits that employees can afford, no increase in minimium wage, massive tax cuts for super rich and corporations, Billions literally given away to Energy companies by Congress at a time they are drowning in corporate profits, gun lobby gets immunity from lawsuits, and the new bankruptcy bill protects banks and credit card issuers while creating even more burden for those struggling with catastropic medical bills and lost jobs, air pollution worst ever with EPA totally impotent, President who lied about what he knew and when he knew it, and our intelligence services being outed and dismantled for partisan political gain, Korea goes on making nuclear bombs, and Iran is poised to make nuclear bombs and entered into alliance with the new Iraqi Government.

Question: Is it still fun thinking you are a Republican, and what did you get in return for voting Republican last election?

2. I personally voted for George W. Bush in 2000 AND 2004 and feel
you would blame George Bush for gravity if something fell off the table and hit you on the toe.

(um, no)

4. So Answer The Question expatriot !! Tell Us All the great things Bush
has done for you during that time. Oh and by the way, if you are an oil or energy company, corporate exec, or a millionaire -- you don't need to make a list, we already know what he has done for you.

As far as gravity is concerned, I understand Bush is in favor of teaching both explanations of gravity in our public schools -- it is part of "intelligent design" or is hidden in a science book somewhere which he cannot or will not read.

18. what is on that cat's head?
Edited on Thu Aug-18-05 10:00 AM by Skittles
is it just a prank seeing what he'll tolerate? Many years ago I had a cat that used to sack out stretched across the coffee table when friends and I were sitting on the couch - we used to play this game where we'd each in turn put something on the cat - beer can, penny, lighter - last person who put something on would that stayed would win. Good LORD sometimes it went on for over an hour and you could barely see the cat before he got up and stretched, leaving crap all over the table.......:o

3. You forgot Bush helping to make Social Security solvent.
Oh wait, it is, but won't be if he gets to fix it.

Yeah, that's the $1TT question I'm waiting to hear answered, too.

Maybe though, you need to use smaller words or draw pictures....there's an awful lot of complex reality that requires small doses for absorption.

5. Yeah that is a whole other list -- things Bush has broken by fixing them
Can anyone name one problem Bush has fixed while in office that did not involve helping his rich buddies or family?

6. I voted republican in 2000
Essentially because Al Gore was very... I don't know... he just rubs me the wrong way and still does. Plus I was only 18 at the time =P

So when 2004 came about, I had a learned at lot and figured that Bush was going to be destroyed because of all the crap that went on during his presidency... I mean... how could anyone vote for him for anything other than anti-abortion reasons. I saw through that though realizing that Bush's policies may curb abortion(and they do go to factcheck.org to figure out that one) but end up hurting and killing many others in other areas as well(poor, civilians in iraq, people who can't get medical care etc.).

Still he won... I also believe the election was stolen as well... But I'm not getting into that now...

7. OK, can you name anything that benefited you by voting Repub?
I can see by your post that you are thoughtful, but the point is I cannot find anyone who voted Repub in the last 2 elections who can name one thing the Repubs did to benefit them unless they got a share of the Government largess by office, or no-bid contract, or were wealthy, corporate related, a family member or buddy of Bush,or in a favored business like oil.

Individuals who hoped to benefit by identifying themselves with Repubs and voting Repub are in the same boat with the rest of us.
Will they admit it?

9. Actually, abortions are up under Bush.
Interesting...perhaps people are less inclined to bring children into a world run by a madman hellbent on removing peace and prosperity from our lives..

10. Even Folks Voting Only on Abortion Stand are Affected by Other Repub Acts
I find it hard to believe that people would vote only on the issue of abortion in selecting a candidate. It is like saying I am only going to concentrate on water, because I need water to live -- and ignore the lack of oxygen, food, etc.

One issue voters on abortion are one reason we are stuck with the Repubs today.

11. Welcome aboard.
I agree. When you look at the make-up of the Republican Party it is an amalgam of special interests, none of them interconnected. Oil/Religion/Guns/Abortion/Gays. The republicans specialize in target marketing. The common good loses out to the singular hot button issue of their consumer-voter.

Only the top echelon of the Party wins....all their constituents are the big losers with the rest of us. The jokes on them, but they're clueless in figuring it out.

13. Seems Like a Good Starting Point for Dems to use in Next Election
You will recall that Repubs came up with that famous line, are you better off today than you were before the Dem took office?

Well there is no doubt that this line of attack would hit home with swing voters. When people are promised one thing, then get nothing in return, I suspect they are ready for a change.

17. actually they are down
This claim is false. It's based on an an opinion piece that used data from only 16 states. A study by the Alan Guttmacher Institute of 43 states found that abortions have actually decreased. Update, May 26: The author of the original claim now concedes that the Guttmacher study is "significantly better" than his own.

I wouldn't even believe one letter that is from that site. You might want to use factcheck.com instead.

22. well then
unless you provide me with some FACTS to back that one up I'm going to have to not believe you. Factcheck.org is pretty even handed when it comes to it's analysis and tends to keep opinions and partisanism out of it's articles. Hell, if you think it's RW look at the articles they did during the election. I was hard pressed to find one that was in favor of bush.

15. While Al might rub you the wrong way,
Edited on Wed Aug-17-05 04:44 PM by Uncle Joe
you might take a minute to thank him for his vision in championing the technology that allowed you to post your opinions to the world. The corpwhorate owned media certainly did not appreciate him taking some of their power and giving it to you. They wanted to be the sole gatekeepers to the truth, so naturally they trashed and slandered him like no other for his service to America and enabled the corrupt incompetent to power that is occupying the White House to this day. All the problems and tragedy to this day occurred from that slander by our so called fourth estate.

P.S. Welcome to DU:hi:

19. Do you usually make important decisions based on....
how something "rubs" you? If you had substantial problems with Gore,
than so be it. But you sound quite a bit like those who voted for Bush
because he seems to them like someone they'd enjoy having a beer
with.

My intention here is not to attack you, but Americans voting ignorantly
is a huge problem in this country. We are not electing an imagined
pal, but an effective leader.

One more thing: What's your solution, as a male, to unwanted and
accidental pregnancy? If someone forced you into fatherhood, how
would you feel?
