Pro-troop rally planned near Crawford

A pro-troop caravan that supports soldiers' mission in Iraq says their rally next week in Crawford, called ‘You Don't Speak for Me, Cindy’ will proceed, despite Sheehan's departure.

Move America Forward is planning a trip from California to Crawford. The organization says servicemembers and their families have not had their voices heard during Sheehan's vigil.

The rally is planned for Saturday, August 27 from 1:00 to 3:00.

The organization also announced Thursday it has produced a new anti-Sheehan television commercial that will air nationally.

They have a radio station. The chairman of the group is also listed as a correspondent. What gives with that? Smells like some propagandist bullshit on the level same with the NAZI Goebbels.

18. yes, but we need to learn to deal with it and respond accordingly
otherwise it's hopeless and thugs always win. I think it's terrible PR for them to attack her now that she is in LA taking care of her sick mother, so I would not worry too much about them gaining any ground on the issue. And please let's do remember that unlike a year ago, they are in minority now, we are in majority. They will have a weekend gang of protesters driven there for the occasion to oppose people who stay there day after day? The US populace may be gullible but that one is too transparent even for most of them.

Edited on Thu Aug-18-05 10:42 PM by BattyDem

Supporting a war in which thousand of soldiers are being maimed and killed because they are out-numbered and don't have the proper equipment ... how exactly is that being "pro-troop" :eyes:

11. The more they counter protest, the more attention the protest gets
Let them do this - as one person said on AAR (and I totally agree) - the more they counter protest, the more attention the anti-war protest gets! The more they get to sprew their violent bile, the more Cindy's group will look like the morally upstanding group. Repulblicans are their own worst enemy - we need to do more of this protesting to help them along in their self-destruction.

16. Take a look at this.

Vacaville mom's protest spreads to Marin, rest of U.S.

snip...
Greenbrae's Melanie Morgan, a conservative radio host with KSFO, said she plans to fly to Texas next week and join a caravan of Bay Area people who are driving there to stand up for Bush and the Iraq war. Morgan said that, in the spirit of civic dialogue, she was glad to hear Marin residents participated in last night's vigils even though she doesn't agree with their opinion.

"It doesn't represent the rest of this country," Morgan said. "And I say that with great love to my neighbors."

snip...
Morgan said she is speaking up for millions of Americans who, although silent, remain committed to Bush and his policy in Iraq. Morgan said Sheehan and her supporters have every right to speak their minds, but so do people who disagree with them.

"The things she says undermine what's going on in Iraq and embolden the terrorists," Morgan said.

Oh, yes. It's going so well.

Un-democratic manipulation, lies and incompetence by our pseudo-leaders undermine what's going on in Iraq and embolden the terrorists.

She is a deluded person.

Ah yes, the "silent majority," pulled back into action from the days of Tricky Dicky Nixon.

I suppose the "silent majority" told Morgan she was their leader in the same way that God talks to bush.

The illusory "silent majority" they pull out of their back pocket when their support is down to nothing.

In their dreams. LOL. These guys never fail to give me a laugh.

31. They support Bush and hate the troops
Republicans love dead soldiers because soldiers' tombstones provide a good backdrop for GOP patriotic speeches.

Screw the Iraq "mission"! It is nothing more than a war of aggression, no different from Saddam's invasion of Kuwait, and equally reprehensible.

I want the troops alive and back home in one piece. I want the troops to come home immediately and unconditionally. Those that want to continue this war should don the uniform and go die for corporate profits.

Nearly 1,900 dead GIs on account of a lie!

36. Oh please
They have got it so wrong. The power in this movement is that its not about pro-war or anti-war, its anti being sent to a bullshit war, and anti-pathetic gameplan and anti-inadequate armor.

to quote our favorite right-wing nutbag:
When your enemy is destroying themselves, you shut up and get out of the way and let them do it.
-Rush Limbaugh

'Nuff said.

I am working on going on Sunday, gotta go to lamaze with my little sister on Saturday, but would liek to make the Sunday rally.

37. Any caravan of that sort that leaves the Bay Area is fine by me
Greenbrae's Melanie Morgan, a conservative radio host with KSFO, said she plans to fly to Texas next week and join a caravan of Bay Area people who are driving there to stand up for Bush and the Iraq war. Morgan said that, in the spirit of civic dialogue, she was glad to hear Marin residents participated in last night's vigils even though she doesn't agree with their opinion.

I wonder if we can lock the gates while they're gone and not let them back into the Bay Area? It'll be nice to have the *whole* area blue, if at least for a little while.
