Fox & Friends sleaze on Cindy Sheehan 8/19 (Cindy and the blind cleric)!
Early this a.m. I heard Brian Kimeade on Fox and Friends say that Cindy Sheehan supported the blind Islamic cleric jailed on the charges of the earlier bombing of the WTT (1993), and that it was her who was trying to get the cleric-terrorist's "hate-filled speech" out to the rest of us. I've never heard this before, but I'll swear by it.

Interestingly, they won't even put it in writing. Here's what Kimeade has on his blog this afternoon:

<snip>

I am amazed at the media frenzy around Cindy Sheehan's . . . quest to talk again with President Bush about the loss of her son in Iraq. Casey, her son was killed in April and soon after she met with and was quoted to have been happy with the president’s attitude as he offered her condolences. Now, she is making her stay in Crawford a huge vigil to pull the troops out of Iraq. It’s causing her family, including her grandmothers, aunt and godmother, to say she is using her son’s death to fuel her anti-war agenda and gain promotion. Other grieving parents have lined up against her saying it sullying their kids’ service to run down the cause. . . .

<snip>

Is this a new tactic? Smear someone on a broadcast and then never put it in print? They can trot it out on Friday and then hammer it all weekend (with few investigative sources like Franken's to rebut) and by Monday it will sound like common knowledge.

Are we getting had right now??

2. Of all the loathsome FOX news personalities...
Brian Kilmeade, E.D. Hill, and that glorified "weatherman" Steve Doocy have to be the absolute worst. They are like lobotomized Today show anchors. I've heard things on "Fox & Friends" that one would never hear on Rush or Hannity. And that's really saying something.

3. Transcripts may be available here
http://www.lexisnexis.com/news/

but I doubt it.

Newshounds may have it tomorrow.

Fox&Friends is just the early morning means of getting out RW talking points. No one, I expect even Fox, really takes them seriously so consider that.

They throw all kinds of BS out on that show just to see what sticks IMHO

I am glad you posted this in its own thread. Hopefully someone will track it down and post it (video/transcript).

So I am to gather that Cindy was a pol operative all the way back then? Or am I supposed to think that she really would side with the "Blind Cleric" right now.. right now with a PR firm helping her out (one of the early RW talking points on her)....right now with everyone watching. The fact that Rush & co aren't echoing this tells me that KillME either went off on a tangent or it didn't instapoll very well.

I think they are going full board on their smear of this woman. They will stop at nothing! If this isn't true, Cindy should sue the crap out of them!

6. I don't think its for real... ok

my god... I think it was photoshopped. But if this gets any bigger, she better tackle it. I'm certain that you know how these people operate.

And before you "slam" me with comments picking apart my words, I participated in TWO vigils this week and will be going to a weekly vigil/peace demonstration for Cindy and the troops every wednesday from now on and will be going to washington in September!
What have you done for our cause?

You really shouldn't get rabid over a poor choice of words!

8. As I question yours.
Just because someone has a low posting number doesn't mean you automatically look for something in what they write. Did you read that article? Its making its way around the internet. We know its false, but apparently it already made it on to Faux this morning.

9. if you knew it was false why did you say "if it's true"
those are the three word i took issue with, and if you knew before you typed it wasn't true, then it makes me wonder what or if you were thinking.
post count/ vigil attendendence, you seem obsessed with your cred here, and that's your deal, not mine.
i just wondered why you said "if"

10. I actually read everything I can get my hands on
and do nothing but think about this idiot in the whitehouse and the harm hes caused and continues to cause. I find it distasteful that you question my motives based upon a post. I served my country in the USAF and have two draft age boys...

Don't wonder.... worry about yourself and why you feel the need to pick apart the statements of those who are fighting for what is right in this country.

I've had enough of this conversation.

15. i've had enough of you flying off the handle.
i asked an honest question, and i don't give a fuck if you find it distatsteful.
seriously: get a grip, or choose your words more carefully so you won't find the need to get so damned defensive.

11. ieoeja (DUer) posted on the origin of this wildly exaggerated story
Edited on Fri Aug-19-05 03:53 PM by skip fox
Hey, relax. We're in this together.

ieoeja (a DUer) posted this to my questions elsewhere. It's good to have it here. Lynn Steward is the cleric's attorney.

Here follows her post:

To find out who Lynn Stewart is check out Stewart's speech at the bottom of the Stewart link provided in the original posting. It is quite a few paragraphs in before Stewart says exactly what she did that got her charged.

"The Sheik asked me to make this press release and we all thought it was a good idea because we felt our duty was to keep his name alive in the world, in the real world."

She was then charged with helping the Blind Sheik in the continuance of his crimes. Stewart herself gives an example of what a lawyer should not do because it would be helping the client's criminal activities. The example she provides was one in which it would be wrong to pass along a message to a drug dealer's partners to have them turn off their beepers. So what does she then do? She passes along a message (in the form of a press release) from the Blind Sheik to his terrorist partners.

Now the question is, was it a message that helped the Blind Sheik continue his criminal activity?

It might help at this point to switch over to the case of Matthew Hale. Hale is the leader of an organization that preaches the eradication of all non-white, non-Christian people from the entire planet. He was kind enough to hire a hit man to kill a federal judge which guarantees his incarceration for life. At that time there was some discussion as to whether or not he could be charged in complicity with the murders of two minorities by one of his followers. Hale did not conspire with that man to kill those specific two people. But he did tell that man (and everyone else in his church) they should kill minorities. No charges were brought as he appears to have stayed just barely on the legal side of the line. However, Matthew Hale is not allowed to make press releases because he would certainly use them to exhort his followers to further violence.

The Blind Sheik preaches the eradication of all non-arab, non-Muslim people from the entire planet. It was his followers who executed the first WTC bombing. The Blind Sheik is in jail for his complicity in that crime. Like Matthew Hale, the Blind Sheik is not allowed to make press releases because he would certainly use them to exhort his followers to further violence.

In both cases the argument goes that such press releases would help either man continue his crimes. By that reasoning Lynn Stewart did assist the Sheik in the continuance of his crimes and was subsequently arrested.

Sheehan (about time we got to her) gave a speech at a rally in support of Lynn Stewart who was "charged" with assisting the mastermind behind the first bombing of the WTC. Hence, the link between Sheehan and those bombers.
