http://news.bostonherald.com/election2004/election.bg?articleid=661

A new poll of likely voters in the February seventh Democratic caucuses in Michigan show Kerry leading his rivals with 37 percent. Howard Dean was a distant second in the poll at 14 percent, with John Edwards and Wesley Clark tied at ten percent.

1. Murdoch Paper Likes Kerry
Right wing tycoon Rupert Murdoch wants business-as-usual in Washington. Wanna bash Dean? Try the Boston Herald.

4. Yes the results
are from a Epic/MRA poll and they are usually "right on" here in Michigan. We're working our fannies off and the response is fantastic. We have so many volunteers signed up...it's great!
Can't wait til it's our turn on the 7th!!

8. Great news!
If Senator Kerry can take Michigan (along with my home state of Washington, which votes on the same day), he'll be well on his way to winning the nomination.

10. Good news for Kerry...
I wonder if Michael Moore's support in Michigan will generate some momentum for Clark.

11. I'm From Michigan
And I've supported Clark since the draft movement. Most of the people around here haven't really started paying attention yet. If Clark picks up some states next week, I think he's got a pretty good shot here, too. And Lord knows I'm doing all I can to get the word out.

Non-scientific, of course.

Clark 51.9%
Edwards 39.1%
Kerry 4.5%
Dean 2.4%
Sharpton 1.4%
Kucinich 0.4%
Lieberman 0.3%

15. Nothing but name recognition.....
and the scream coverage....

A poll out the week before Iowa had Dean at 36% and Gephardt at 14%....

And as for the "WE" the only people who have been out canvassing in Michigan that I've seen has been Dean supporters....

We are one of the best organized and staffed in the country...don't worry, we have been canvassing for over a month now....this week, we are going for every day up until the election....

Plus, many of us have already voted in the primary and will be out doing GOTV on caucus day!!!

Anyone else in Michigan from any campaign, make sure you let voters know that they may not have the same polling places, thanks to the repugs in the legislature.....

17. You never know how we Michiganians will vote until the day
In 2000, McCain won the repub Michigan primary (I crossed over to vote for him, because I feared a Bush presidency would be a disaster-I was right). The media were all predicting a close election and a Bush win in the fall-Gore won by a larger margin than our current dem Governor.
If Detroit gets out the vote, the caucus will be very interesting. If not, my guess is that Kerry or Dean will win. I would guess that Kerry or Clark will carry Detroit, with Sharpton getting a measurable percentage.
I do anticipate big voter turnout in the fall in Detroit. I moved out of the city in 2001, but in 2000 I saw more voters at my precinct than I ever did before. In 2002, Detroit votes gave Jennifer Granholm the votes she needed to win the governorship. Detroiters are rediscovering their ability to influence elections.
West Michigan is a GOP stronhold. I think that having a caucus will cut down on crossover voting for Lieberman (by conservative repubs who like him) and Dean (by freepers who think that if he's nominated, Bush will steamroll him).
