Will we go to war with the Arabs for the privilege of driving our cars?
This question was asked 10 years ago during the Bush Sr. administration:

"Remember that in 10 years, by the year 2000, America will have exhausted 80% of her petroleum reserves. Will we then go to war with the Arabs for the privilege of driving our cars; will we stripmine our land for coal and poison the air we breathe to drive our autos an additional 100 years; will we raze our forests for our energy needs?"

The answer to all these questions are appearantly, Yes.

The author of this paper talks about Hemp as a fuel source that could solve our current energy crisis. She lays out a detailed plan that would start us on the path to true energy inependence and economic growth. This seems like a reasonable plan to me. Her article is posted here: http://www.hempcar.org/efia.shtl

1. It's a fact. The proof is we are occupying Iraq.

They can put whatever lipstick they want on it, but the inescapable fact of the matter is, a little over ten years later, we are occupying Iraq and we are there to secure the oil for us.

3. I am kind of intentionally uninformed about the Hemp deal.
Always seemed like an excuse to grow dope or something.

5. Hi Casual_Observer
:hi:

If you would like some info on the subject. One of the best reads is by Jack Herer titled "The Emperor Wears No Clothes". It is available on the net by Mr. Herer himself for free (link below). On his website he also offers a challenge for anyone to prove him wrong, in which he'll pay that person $100,000.

Hemp is such an incredible plant. Its able to provide fuel, plastics, textile, paper and medicine. This is why it is illegal; it will out compete the big pharmaceutical companies in many drugs, it will out compete in the textile industry, not to mention other industries as well.

4. Who gets the oil?
I would say that the US government is in Iraq to secure the oil for the companies that are going to sell it to us. These corporations want two things: a ready source of oil, and high domestic fuel prices. The Iraq war gives them both of these things.

When they start selling us hemp, then we'll get energy from hemp, and we'll probably invade some South American countries to secure a steady supply of it.

The first problem is not fuel-inefficient cars: it's that the government is run by and for large businesses. Halliburton is our Krupp.

6. It's very safe to say we are securing the oil
It is much more complicated to say who and what we are securing it for. Nobody is talking, it's a very taboo subject in Washington. Ever hear ANYBODY talk about Iraqi oil?

8. Hard to pump when you are warring
and Venezuela along with Iran and who knows who else are planning to boycott the U$ and CHINA is a big buyer, with a good credit rating. Japan was upset with the U$ not letting them have oil before WWII. Today the U$ does not have the power to stop other biggies from getting oil. Interesting.

9. Will we murder people in order to drive our cars?
That's what you are really asking. Let's face it.
