CNN: "Exposing the Intelligence Failures...I'm Taping It..but is there a
running thread here on DU...I think that might be impossible since one needs to watch the "Whole THing."

Anyway...I'm taping the Crap CNN/Powell Pump Up" because I'm a "coward" who can't stomach "REAL TIME."

Tapeing...Tape...Tape...Tape...Tape...Tape..Tape....Tape..Tape...

RETROSPECTIVE IS GOOD! REFLECTION...well it's NOT IN THE NEOCON AGENDA.

9. David Ensor is really laying it all out so far...not missing a beat.
David Kay saying there was no WMD, and who is now going to believe us next time.

He even mentions that Rummy's special intelligence group--altho he does not name the Office of Special Plans or mention who ran it--was not mentioned by the 9-11 Commission.

He also brings up the Downing Street Minutes and said that the White House would not speak wih them about the DSM for this program.

Stuff... I'm here on Computer and Hubby has the TV very Loud so stuff drifts in...it's starting to get Good with David Kay and how "policy makers USED Intelligence."

I'm still here in bunker with that stuff I'm so angry about "drifting through the closed doors." Hubby is on "Dire Alert" mode. He's watching and I'm here posting because I was a "chicken heart" who could watch CNN's first RUN of their "Special Report."

It does sound like it was worth a watch of the 11:00 Rebroadcast or a taping. I hang my head in shame because of my inability to trust CNN...

It sounds very good..worth a watch for all DU'ers....

coming in the MSM.

I was at the computer, so not seeing and hearing all of it and the full impact.

Condilizard and the rest made me so angry again.

Being lied to and knowing it is happening does that to me.

Anyhow, we've all had good reason to not trust the MSM for a long time now.

They are definitely pointing out that it was the President who makes the call for these things. That whole exchange was very damaging and damning of Bush and the CIA gets the blame for it.

23. Good show
I think it hits pretty hard, anybody that sees that program knows they pushed us into that war for bullshit reasons. Even though we here at DU might want it to hit harder, people in the middle might take our view as to left-leaning and be turned off I think it struck a good balance. I just know that unfortunately that will be the last thing any news channel does that is critical of these creeps.

that all can watch this. It might leave out alot of what we DU'ers already know...but for the Mainstream Americans this might be a "breakthrough."

One wonders if CNN is preparing for BAD FALLOUT from Fitzgerald out there in Chicago that they actually did this "Special Report."

Whatever...if average Americans saw it and are beginning to Awake...it's gotta have some impact. For that..I'm thankful.

29. WTF, no mention of Joe Wilson's trip
to Nigers to check out on the yellow cake Uranium allegations. CNN played it safe, never directly calling the administration lier's but showing video after video of Bush&co contradicting established facts. Not really news for most folks on this board. The centrist viewers who haven't been following this will find this enlightening. This is wasted on the freepers of course, they seem intellectually incapable of comprehending and processing data that doesn't agree with their mindset.

a time much more distant in the past. Which is a compliment.

Now how do we get them to do a similar documentary about the 2 very dubious elections of 2000 and 2004?

They need a technically oriented person who can grasp some of the finer points of computer software etc and talk to experts in computer science etc.

He was meant to be the fallguy in this report, in my humble opinion. Even though McLaughlin said he did not think that Tenet meant "slam dunk" the way it has been reported. Whitewash? Maybe not. Clean reporting? No way.

34. But maybe....
the intent was to deceive? Maybe the camera shots were intentional? Maybe they want viewers to think Tenet was the source of the "bad intelligence"? Got to blame it somebody... McLaughlin, who is now working for CNN, said Tenet did not mean "slam dunk" as has been portrayed in the media.....then they show the guy that hunted for the WMDs and he's talking all about the "slam dunk"??? I'm not sure how to read this?

35. No, this program is straight forward.
Tenet was definitely involved in spinning the words, up to his damn eyeballs. When the admin knew which way the wind was blowing, i.e., their excuses were being exposed, they tried again to make the CIA culpable. Tenet tearfully resigned and got a medal. But he was involved in twisting the info to suit this admin, and CNN spelled it out perfectly.

knew that might happen, but went along with it. In fact, I honestly believed for awhile what this admin said because of Powell, because I thought he was a stand-up, honest man. He has lost the most and he knows it with the statement you wrote. He should have lightened his soul by coming clean, but it's not too late.

I am also taping it for future opportunities to hand to relatives/friends who may be willing to open their minds. Think about it, all these people willing to speak on camera, and therefore on the record will most assuredly have a heavy impact on the middle of the road crowd. There must be a dozen figures such as David Kay, Rand Beers, and so on speaking very negatively regarding the Bush decision to go to war over the dubious at best evidence. People will talk about this at the water cooler.

49. This program was:
INTRODUCTION: BUSH LIED 101

No question about it! They made it very clear that although intelligence was faulty, the administration deliberately picked through it to find whatever they could that would support the war, which was a big, fat NOTHING! The phrases "weak intelligence", "not enough to prove MWD", "fixed intelligence", etc...were repeated throughout. My favorite was showing Cheney repeating lies with such conviction even AFTER CIA had not confirmed the "so-called" facts. And when they...Cheney, Condi, Rums...repeated the mushroom cloud phrase to scare us. Dick Durbin, Larry Johnson, others...were great!

The mainstream, especially the right, can't handle the truth, so it has to be feed to them by spoonfuls. So many people saw "Fahrenheit 11". But it was too much for many to take in all at once, so they questioned and criticized Michael Moore instead.

For those who haven't seen it...do yourself a favor and read the transcript. (If there is one.)
