Let's allow for a christian theocracy in this country |
|
Let's tell southern baptists they are free to establish a state religion. How many "sects" of southern baptists are there? How many half miles are in country roads throughout the old south? In my half century on this planet I've observed baptists in one church getting pissed off at how their church "interprets" the bible. Their solution? Build another tax exempt "baptist" church a half mile down the road and by god interpret the bible the by god right way.
It would be like digging a shovel full of fire ants from one mound and pouring it on a mound of another. All hell would break loose.
Just what will Jesus do when these ignorant bastards go knocking on the pearly gates?

7. There are many types of Baptist in the South but only one SBC |
|
That's "Southern Baptist Conference." That particular denomination has been at the forefront of mixing religion & politics. Here's an interesting review of the history--much of which took place in Texas. www.livingston.net/wilkyjr/link9.htm
Not to say there's no conflict in the SBC. The Houston Chronicle's Religion Section covers the SBC convention every year. Generally there's controversy between the Conservatives & the Ultra-Conservatives.
