3. Gas prices should destroy the GOP
They have fought tooth and nail to keep the minimum wage down. It's been about 8 years since the minimum wage was increased. If you are on a fixed income or make minimum wage, how do you afford to pay for gas to go to work and still feed your family or buy needed meds?

The oil companies seem to have taken a page from the pharmaceutical playbook. They have one of the largest surpluses in years. They are reporting record profits. Yet we are still paying exorbitant prices for gas because they know we have to get to work.

It basically amounts to price fixing and the GOP is letting the oil companies soak us for every cent.

4. Remember the windfall profit tax?
When oil compnaies were making massive profits in the early '80s, the Congress imposed a windfall profits tax.

Time to do the same now. It would also help close the deficit.

5. Remember a few weeks ago when the energy bill was passed
and did not include the protection from lawsuits that the gas companies were looking for re cancer causing additives in the water tables?

One of America's largest refineries got pissed that it didn't pass and decided it would quit refining oil. They produce one out of every nine gallons of gasoline in this country. Gas immediately jumped a dime.

I'm glad to see the gas/oil companies are doing their part to control prices...

7. They've been shutting down refineries for almost 10 years...
Not because the demand wasn't there is was for only one reason,to drive prices through the roof. For a period of about 2-3 weeks back in 98 or 99 gas prices fell like an anvil because of a world glut. They were as low as .85--.90 cents per gallon around here. Oil giants wanted to make DAMN sure that never happened again and systematically started closing down refineries.

Of course it was ALL blamed on tree-hugging liberals and wacko environmentalist. Thats TOTAL bullshit because older refineries were "grandfathered" in and didn't have to close down.

6. Well Chimp, time to tell OPEC to "open the spigots" like you said in 2000
But it would still be blamed on evilll LIEberals who won't let refinerer's be built next door to their house. Whatda you say we go down to West Palm Beach and build a super refinery within perfect veiw of Pillboys mansion?

Unless your a fucking hypocrite Rush then you should allow it to be built.
